After talking Don at Anvil bike works I decided to let him design the frame as he saw fit. I did give my desires for a mtb frame and what I wanted in the way of handling. Don is a genius, his choice in tubing and geometry have produced a bike that makes me ride faster. I can climb more relaxed without having to fight the front end, descend steep nasty trails, fly down super G fire roads, climb like a nut out of the saddle. Killer looks accompanied by a sweet paint job. Attention to detail. Having a bike that is made for you only. Period. The bike is an extension of me and my abilities. It's great to have a bike that is made for you and you only, as selfish as that may sound. I am as fast as my riding partners on a hardtail when compared to their full-suspension-of-the-week designs. Don at Anvil is really easy to work with he will let you spec the tubeset, the design and the paint sceme (without letting you make any horrendous mistakes) to your liking. That kind of service is just not available with any larger manufacturer. When you compare the weight and quality of workmanship of my bike, to the so call wonder alloy racing bikes, it's hard to believe mine is steel! I am really stoked on this frame. On that subject, Don Ferris of Anvil Bikes is brilliant, modest and thoughtful. He will listen carefully to as much detail as you can offer (I think we exchanged over 50 emails) and the result will keep you smilin all the way down the trail... and back. looks great too. Has steel plate under BB to protect frame from Chain Suck. One of the best investments I have ever made. The bike is custom, so right off the bat you are getting a bike that is one of a kind. Anvil will help you choose the materials, geometry and features of your bike based on the type of rider you are an the type of riding you will do.
My hammer is by far the best bike I have ridden. I own a Yo Eddy, MOHO CXS and Gary Fisher hookoo something and I find myself choosing the Anvil for every outing. If you have ridden for a while and are ready for a new bike I recommend calling Anvil.
