Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $45.00
Purchased At:LBS
Strengths:Stiff, strong, light.
Weaknesses:Garish graphics (may or may not be a weakness depending on your taste and bike colour), gold-finish seat clamp looks out of place
Similar Products Used:Thomson Elite, Bontrager, Kalloy, other no name brands
Bike Setup:Gary Fisher Hoo Koo E Koo
Bottom Line:This is one of the least expensive carbon seatposts on the market, and capitalizes on the increasingly sophisticated manufacturing abilities of the Taiwanese bike companies. Amoeba is also known as Jinn Yeh in Taiwan, and the stuff they're coming out with are well-designed, well-made and affordable. i've yet to have any issues with this seatpost. it's almost like the Elite in it's "fit-and-forget" quality, and for lighter riders the supposed fragility of carbon isn't really an issue anyway. there's no flex, no slippage (except in the beginning when i didn't tighten the QR enough), no creaks, and it's two-bolt clamp design is easy and fuss-free to use. if you can overlook the flaming "tribal" graphics and garish-gold clamp, it's a great seatpost at a great price.
