Date Reviewed: December 1, 2008
Duration Product Used:2 Years
Price Paid: $2.00
Purchased At:Bicycle Sport Shop
Strengths:Decent taste, not chalky, some flavors have caffeine, it works!
Weaknesses:It's a little thin and cost a bit more than other gels
Similar Products Used:Cliff Shot, Gu
Bike Setup:Motolite Ti
Bottom Line:This stuff is like rocket fuel for me. It takes about 15 minutes or so to kick in and then I feel sustained energy for 45 minutes or more. It can even bring me back from a full on bonk. I never feel jittery or weird and I have never crashed after it wears off. I swear my muscles are less fatigued after using it during a ride. I like Cliff Shot as a low octane pick-me-up, but this stuff is 112 octane! I like the Chocolate best and the Raspberry Cream isn't bad either. Those are both the caffeinated versions. Give it a try, it's better than any of the other gels I've used

Favorite Trail:El Prieto
Duration Product Used:2 Years
Price Paid: $1.00
Purchased At:different online ret
Strengths:Patented 4:1 carb/protein mixture, great taste, plenty of flavors from which to choose
Weaknesses:Never leave a used gel pack in your Camelbak...ants!
Similar Products Used:GU, Cytomax gel, PowerGel, Clif Shot...all taste like paste
Bike Setup:Specialized S-Works Stumpjumper FSR
Bottom Line:After tasting different gels out there, Accel Gel is the only one that doesn't have a strong aftertaste and has a much lighter texture. It's not so "paste" like and smooth going down. I chose this purely based on the non-gag effect. I've purchased boxes of these from different online retailers and it usually averages about $1.00/pack. Just do a little shopping. As far as effect of ingredients, I don't feel any different than the other gels, however, it is the only gel that I look forward to tasting. Try the Lime!
