Description:Crafted to fit the natural contours of the body, the Pure V delivers support, ergonomics, and function unlike any other. Featuring the traditional WTB drop nose, relieving Love Channel and Comfort Zone features and our Whale-Tail pedaling platform, the Pure V is the ultimate body-tuned saddle.
I've ridden on this saddle for just over a year on my steel hardtail and I can honestly say that I've never felt any discomfort due to the saddle. It's soft enough to be comfortable and firm enough to be supportive. I have been on several 3+ hour rides and whether it is long sustained climbs, rolling smooth singletrack, or nasty rocky descents the saddle has always been great.
The durability has been great through roots, rocks, crashes, and small drops (2' or less), and it still looks just about as good as new. All in all I would say this saddle has been as good as I could have asked for. When it comes time to get a new bike, I can say for certain that the saddle will be a WTB Pure.

Strengths:
Whale tail design, durability, looks good - black w/silver trim matches my bike
Weaknesses:
love channel could extend a little more forward
Similar Products Used:
Bontrager stock garbage that came on my Trek (one of the worst saddles ever - designed by sadists), Terry Fly (shape around cutout caused too much pressure and didn't work for me), Specialized BG on my road bike - great but costs >2X as much as this one
Bike Setup:
Trek 4900 hardtail, semi-slicks
Bottom Line:
I ride mostly for fitness training on light trails. No signs of significant wear after 2+ years. The whale tail design fits my sits bones and I can handle riding 3+ hours at a time on it. The love channel is just adequate and doesn't always relieve enough pressure if I'm leaning forward for awhile in a more agressive riding posture, but overall I'm satisfied with this saddle for the price.

If you want to buy this seat for long rides you are better off using a coke bottle, but if you dont really sit on your seat and dont use it i geusse it really does not mater what seat you have.
if i could i would give it 0 chilis

Well, I used to use my old stock saddle. The main problem with it is that the stock saddle hurt after 20 miles. So I went to my LBS and bought this one. This is great! After long rides, it felt great and comfortable!

Excellent support, I think it looks good, price
I have the one with chrome trim, yes it matches polished aluminum and no, it has not shown any sign of wearing off after about 40 hours in the saddle.
Weaknesses:
might be too squishy for some and the back might be too wide for some
Similar Products Used:
OE Speed V (two of them), some old specialized roadie saddle that I'm hoping to replace
Bike Setup:
hardtail, 2.1" rear tire. I usually wear fox baggy (above the knee) shorts. My saddles get set up sloping just the slightest bit backward overall.
Bottom Line:
I really like this saddle, doesn't deserve the 3/5 it has as I write this imo. This is wider than most saddles in back, and seems to have a bit stretchier cover, making it a pretty soft seat. I'm 6'2" 180 lbs and I usually feel like my sit bones are a little wide for most seats when the going gets rough. Not this one, just right and seems to cradle everything together. I find that a lot of seats can really drill you when you hit a bump right, but this seat has around an inch of "travel," I know this because the top of my thomson seat post is about an inch from the cover when i'm not sitting on it and I can actually see in the dust marks that the seat has flexed enough for the post to just barely touch it. It feels much less slippery than my OE wtb seat, which supports the parts more securely while pedaling (keeps them out of the thigh/seat interface).
My verdict: great seat for a hardtail when comfort is higher on the list than a 30 second efficiency advantage of some hard slippery seat over the course of a 2-hour ride.
Does it make sense that steel seat rails got BENT from a person just sitting on the seat and not even doing a drop? ahem improper installation

Strengths:
Comfortable, I had no issues with the cover.
Weaknesses:
I crushed the seat on a fairly mellow drop-in. I didn't even feel the impact that severely bent both rails. I am a big guy at 250lbs, but you would think I would feel the hit that bent a seat.
Similar Products Used:
'99 WTB SST - never had a problem with this seat. Cover held up after many crashes. Rails are still straight. I am using this seat again after bending the Pure V.
Bike Setup:
'06 SC Heckler
Bottom Line:
I obviously need something stronger. Comfort and cover durability is good, rails are weak. May be a good saddle for someone lighter than me. It's tough to judge value since it was a stock seat.

Product have been damaged seriously when used for Light XC and Road only. The front rail snapped out of the saddle with a light lift when crossing water pit. Have to spend 2 hours in woods to fix it. No option but to cut of the front plastic to force the rail back to the saddle. File in a complaint to warranty@wtb.com from 28 December 2006 with no answer until now.

Bottom Line:
This saddle came stock on my Apogee and initially I though it was lacking in padding. I rode a SPeed V comp for a while but that was very difficult to get off the back with on technical stuff. I switched back to this and found it very comfortable to ride even for my large frame. Its holding up good so far though I've had past problems with bending WTB Chro molly rails.
