Submitted by Tom Dauben a Weekend Warrior from Maidstone, Kent, UK
    Date Reviewed: June 2, 2007
Duration Product Used:More than 3 years
    Price Paid: $1030.00
    Purchased At:Ralph Colman Cycles
Strengths:Strength of the frame, warranty, options on geometry, colours, riding characteristics
    Weaknesses:Heavy
Similar Products Used:DMR trailstar (sold mine to buy the Curtis, didn't regret it!), Marin Quake, DMR sidekick, Kona Stuff, Orange Missile, Cortina Dual, Trek Bruiser
Bike Setup:Rockshox Psylo SL, Hope hubs, Atomlab rims, Hope 4 pot front brake, 2 pot rear, XTR rapid rise rear mech, XT shifter, truvativ chain device, dmr cheiftain mk2 cranks, maxxis highroller tyres, Race Face bars, Easton Havoc stem
Bottom Line:Strong bike which once you get it moving you don't feel the weight of. I used mine in some slalom races, some UK downhill race and for hours and hours of street and dirt jumping. This frame can handle anything, and it's warrentied for it too!! Not EVER heard of one being broken and i know 3 people who have owned them, all loved them.

In my opinion it was worth selling my old trailstar to buy this, much faster accelerating due to shorter back end, more responsive and less feedback through the frame making for a smoother ride. This bike is so nice to jump. My old trailstar used to have to be hauled through the 6 pack at my old jump spot, when i bought the curtis i had to brake in the middle sometimes to try and slow it down!!

It is expensive, but if you want a frame which you don't see many of, want top quality and want something with a bulletproof warranty then BUY ONE! you won'y regret it.

4 for vaule as it's £500 ish (expensive for a jump frame, but in my opinion worth it!), and 5 for performance, never ridden another dirt hardtail like it.

    Favorite Trail:The Still, Bristol
    Duration Product Used:2 Years
    Price Paid: $800.00
    Purchased At:Direct from curtis factory
Strengths:Everything! Build quality is the best, the handling is sharp and stable, the garantee is the best there is and they're very rare
    Weaknesses:None!
Similar Products Used:Santa cruz chameleon, Orange Misile, Dmr trailstar and sidekick.
Bike Setup:SSinglespeed cCurtis Super-X 26". Rockshox forks, easton bars, azonic stem, dmr, chris king and hope parts.
Bottom Line:One of the best hardtails frames for jumping, 4X and hucking around the woods on. Will last forever, the handling is spot on, and it looks wicked. The price for the frame might seem high at £500, but for a frame that will last as long as this it’s a bargain. You won’t see many about, and no two are the same anyway. A quality English frame.

Submitted by RICH STEELS a Weekend Warrior from DERBY, UK
    Date Reviewed: October 26, 2003
    Favorite Trail:THE 38 TRAILS
    Duration Product Used:1 Year
    Price Paid: $2000.00
    Purchased At:LIESURE LAKES
Strengths:A NO BULL LIFE TIME WARRANTY AND A 4 YEAR NO BULL GURANTEE. FRAME DESIGN OPTIONS ALOW YOU THE CUSTOMER TO INDIVIDUALLY SELECT YOUR PERFECT SET UP. CUSTOM SERIAL NUMBERS, CUSTOM COLOURS, HORIZONTAL DROP OUTS, VERTICAL, DISK, V BRAKE OR BOTH? 24 SPECIFIC OR 26??
Weaknesses:THERE ISN'T ANY...ACTUALLY THE PICTURE AT THE TOP OF THE PAGE!!! IT'S NOT A CURTIS!!!
Similar Products Used:IDENTITI DR JEKYLL, PASHLEY 24 MHZ, DMR RHYTHM, TRAILSTAR AND SIDEKICK, 24 BIKES LE TOY AND PORNKING.
Bike Setup:CURTIS 24SX FRAME WITH HORIZONTAL DROPOUTS AND V BRAKE MOUNTS ONLY, CUSTOM SERIAL NUMBER (MRSTEELS) CUSTOM COLOUR (CHOCOLATE BROWN) CHRIS KING HEAD SET, PROFILE CRANKS, SS CHAIN RING, WOODMANS SINGLE SPEED CASSETTE HUB, SUN RHYNO LITES, SAPIUM RACE SPOKES. DMR SADLE AND MOTO TYRE FRONT WITH PRIMO DIRT MONSTER REAR, PACE RC46 DH STEM, EASTON EA70 BARS, PRIMO BRAIN FOSTER GRIPS, AVID SD7 LEVER AND REAR BRAKE, FOX VANILLA R FORKS, KHE PEDALS, THOMSON SEAT POST AND A GOLD KMC CHAIN.
Bottom Line:WHEN I DECIDED TO GO SINGLE SPEED AND RUN ONE BRAKE, IT WAS A GRADUAL PROCESS WHILST OWNING MY 24BIKES PORNKING. BUT EVEN WHEN I'D REMOVED THE FRONT BRAKE AND CONVERTED IT TO SINGLE SPEED IT NEVER EVER FELT HOW I WANTED TO. MY CHOICE TO BUY A CURTIS WAS DUE TO THERE BELIEFS IN FRAME BUILDING. THE ONLY AUTOMATED MACHINE IN THEIR FACTORY IS THE KETTLE. EACH FRAME IS CRAFTED AND CARED FOR AS IF IT WAS THEIR OWN. IT SOUNDS LAME I KNOW BUT CURTIS MAKE THE BEST BIKE FRAMES IN THE WORLD. 4130 TUBING, NARRRR THEY USE T45!! CONFUSED? 4130 OR 41.30 TUBING MEANS 41.30 TONS OF PRESSURE PER SQUARE INCH IS REQUIRED TO MAKE THE METAL CRACK, T45 REQUIRES...YEP 45 TONS PER SQUARE INCH! THIS METAL IS HARD TO GET HOLD OF AND IS MAINLY USED IN RALLY CAR ROLL CAGES SO IT'S GOOD ENOUGH FOR A BIKE FRAME. NOT ONLY THAT CURTIS DON'T WELD FRAMES THEY BRAZE THEM, WHY COS A BRAZE IS MORE SUPPLE AND DOESN'T CONCERNTRATE STRESS AS A WELD WOULD. WHEN YOU BUY A CURTIS YOU'LL UNDERSTAND THE SHEAR QUALITY THAT HAS GONE INTO EACH FRAME. TOTALLY WORTH THE 3 WEEK WAIT. AND EVEN AFTER A YEAR OF OWNING ONE, EACH RIDE IS SPECAIL.

Submitted by Nic a Weekend Warrior from UK
    Date Reviewed: October 5, 2002
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Strengths:Super strong head tube, stronger frame material then most BMX's, custom build possibilities.
Weaknesses:May be hard to get if you aint in the UK
Similar Products Used:Orange air-o, very nice until head tube ovalised
Bike Setup:Single speed, profiles with Macneil c/ring, hopes f+r, D321's, marzocchi DJ1's, Standard bmx stem, 24/7 bars, Primo pedals.
Bottom Line:This frame will never break, it has a guarantee, not some stupid warranty that is void if you do dirt or street, i got mine custom built super strong with a thicker guage top tube, a gusset on the down tube, chainstay plates to protect the stays when doing pedal grinds and larger bmx style drop outs. It weighs 7Lbs 10oz so is heavy but when built up is really responsive and handles much better than my old orange. It really is the strongest hard tail i have ever seen. Buy one.
