Submitted by Cresswell Pete a Cross Country Rider from Paoli
    Date Reviewed: October 3, 2002
Duration Product Used:More than 3 years
    Price Paid: $70.00
    Purchased At:various places
Strengths:- Cushions impacts without loss of control.

    - Fits my broad butt. (albeit just barely)

    - Conforms to individual after short break-in period.
Weaknesses:- Not usable with most micro-adjustable (2-bolt) seatposts.
Needs adapter & extra-long bolt to work with single-bolt seatpost.

    - You can't let it get soaking wet.

    - Requires occasional application of some wax-based goop called "Proofide". Dunno what it does, I do it on faith.

    - The wires eventually break (at least for me at 210#). II've been through three of them in about 10 years of use.
    Similar Products Used:Brooks B-17.
Bike Setup:Road bike, then FS mountain bike. Switched to B-17 on the FS.
Bottom Line:1) If you ride a hard tail and aren't aero all the time, this saddle is worth trying. On my road bike, I tried switching back to a conventional (non-sprung) saddle and it felt like my molars were moving every time I went over a bump.

    2) For an FS bike, it's overkill. Use the B-17.

    3) I wish somebody somewhere in the industry would wake up to the fact that different people have different ischial tuberosity spacing and offer saddles accordingly.

    4) Value rating would have been "5" but for the rails breaking. Replacement rails are available through Wallingford.
