Submitted by Sean Bir a Cross Country Rider from Greensboro, NC
    Date Reviewed: December 4, 2001
Favorite Trail:changes (run a mtb web site)
Duration Product Used:More than 3 years
    Price Paid: $1700.00
    Purchased At:Performance
Strengths:Awesome deal for a XC - XT equipped Ti ride (closeout at performance). With a better set of components (mostly XTR + SID-race + SPOX M1's) this is a XC dream ride.
Weaknesses:Weak but light Front Shock. Worked OK for a few months, but can't handle the punishment (even for XC). I switched to a SID Race (supposedly fragile- but lightest out there) and its held up for 2+ years. The original wheels were just average. I've worn out a set of Spinergy Rev X (~3000 hard miles) and some XTR-517's (about same) before I started torturing my current set of "closeout" Spox M-1. No serious sign of abnormal flex in rear triangle (a worry most have with lightweight ti)
Similar Products Used:Gary Fisher Supercaliber, Gary Fisher Mt Tam, Gary Fisher Paragon, Fuji Sundance (modified CrMo), Novara Ponderosa, Cannondale F700, Lightspeed Obed, Trek 9800.....
Bike Setup:Cross Country - East Cost Style (~20 lbs). It can handle moderate (~3 feet) of air and handles well on most descents...but is really a XC race machine.
Bottom Line:Best XT-hardtail deal for the money at the time. I've ran this frame hard and replaced almost everything due to wear (or breakage on the Indy SL). Only the original seatpost and stem exist on this frame....and the seatpost just was bent this month (time to replace).

I've spent more money on upgrades than the original purchase. The bike was worth it!! This bike has allowed me to personnally review most of the rides listed on my NCMBA website.
