Strengths:Covered approx 1900 miles with these tubes with only one puncture.
    Weaknesses:Dont know of any
Similar Products Used:Have used Specialized tubes on other bike with the same reliability.
Bike Setup:Standard Merida Matts sport 100 set up.
Bottom Line:Would have no problem with buying a new Cheng shin tube based on my experience and the fact it is good value for money.
Would recommend these tubes to anyone.

    Purchased At:MEC
    Strengths:Does the job...as long as it's not a lemon
Weaknesses:Seems weak (broke off valve), quality issues (some work, others leak)
    Similar Products Used:Continental
    Bike Setup:'07 Giant Boulder SE
Bottom Line:These came stock on my new bike. I decided to pick up a spare one while at MEC. Good thing that I picked up a Continental tube as well. When I replaced the tube it wouldn't hold air. I mounted it again, same results. I got fed up and put in a tube from a different manufacturer. The other one is still holding up, so my guess is that there are quality/consistency issues.

    Date Reviewed: December 10, 2005
    Duration Product Used:2 Years
    Price Paid: $4.00
    Purchased At:Local bike store
    Strengths:Inexpensive & puncture resistance.
Weaknesses:It's only a matter of time before the stem separates from the tube.
    Similar Products Used:Panaracer, Specialized
    Bike Setup:Mrazek FS
Bottom Line:I’ve stuck with these tubes for 2 years and used spinskins duro underneath them. Can’t remember ever getting a flat here in AZ (unbelievable). The only complaint is that every tube broke off at the stem on the average of 3 to 4 months of use. 90% of the stems separated for the tube while the bike was sitting. The last time I used them I had both tubes break off at the stem on a ride and only had one spare, I was lucky that I was only riding the local canals and hitch a ride in a truck. That was the end of this tube for me, switched back to the normal tubes along with the flats but at least I know that I can patch the tube and make it home.

    Duration Product Used:2 Years
    Purchased At:Came with/on bicycles.
    Strengths:Inexpensive, thick, strong puncture resistance.
Weaknesses:Weight wise a little heavy, but I'd rather have stronger puncture resistance then multi flat tubes.
Similar Products Used:Kenda, Norco, IRC, Bontrager, Maxxis, Lambert, Panaracer.
    Bike Setup:1994 Raleigh Matterhorn/stock.
1996 GT Ricochet/stock - tires changed for slicks.
Bottom Line:These tubes are inexpensive and readily available at discount stores. Made of a good grade of butyl rubber, a little heavy, strong and great against punctures.
Bottom Line: On lesser expensive bikes they're good to have and if you suffer from multi flats it won't break your wallet.

Bottom Line:Cheng-Shin is actually the same manufacture as Maxxis. In Taiwan we call it Cheng Shin but the ones that get exported are called Maxxis. So it's made by the same manufacture.

These tubes are really strong and durable. I think that how often your tube gets pinched has something to do with the tires, so don't blame them when it gets pinched. I think these are good for most of the riders except if your're really rough like a downhiller. I think these are the best tires after all these years of experience. They are really cheap compared to regular tubes.

Strengths:They never gave me any trouble for about 550 miles of rough trail riding. Until...
Weaknesses:The valve stem separated from the tube. It actually didn't happen while I was riding. It happened sometime overnight and in the morning half the stem had broken from the tube.
    Bike Setup:Fisher Paragon
Bottom Line:Well I usually run 40psi in my tire which dosen't seem too unusual so I guess i got a bad tube. They came with my bike so I'm not going to complain too much but I would hope that a tube dosen't break on it's own. Oh well I guess you take a gamble with these tires they either hold up or they don't. I'll give it two chilis for overall because they did hold up for a year before this happened. Three for value because they came with the bike. By the way i have the 26*1.50 models.

    Similar Products Used:Specialized Airlock
Bike Setup:Bontranger Rims and Jones Tires
Bottom Line:The price doesn't make up for the tendency of these tube's stems to break off. Reading other reviews, this seems to be a common problem. After about 500 miles of riding, you better replace these tubes; otherwise, you are going to find yourself out on the trail due to a flat caused by the &@#$ stem. I expect to get flats due to thorns, but not due to failure of the product.

    Rarely failed.
Patches stick to them well too.
    Weaknesses:I dunno.
    Similar Products Used:Didn't need to.
Bike Setup:2 wheels and a frame.
Bottom Line:10,000km, and the tubes never leaked any air. They lasted through 4 sets of tyres, several twisted wheels, and my amateurish attempts at tyre changing. Never hurt them even when I fouled up. And that's using levers, because they didn't make them nice, squishy sidewall ones then like they do now.

In the end, if you are damaging these tubes and it's not because of track hazards like rocks, glass etc, you really need to ask yourself "what am I doing wrong here", because it is not likely to be a tube fault.

I still have an 11 year old tube here, I bought it as a spare when I got my first MTB, never needed it then, never needed it since. Probably won't ever need it.

Lighweight innertubes are for them lightweight roadtoads who believe in scraping off every single gram they can from their bikes... Face it~ when u use lightweight innertubes like the air-b, or the greenlites, u're gonna suffer...mine blew up and riPPed open...totally wasted... my Cheng Shins stuck by wiff me for 3 yrs on the front wheel! thats right baby.... 3 years! i flatted a coupla times at the rear, but that aint too shabby a record aint it, considering that i ride 12-15 hours a week...
i also have an XC-specific gary fisher decked wiff judy SLs and full XTR and tricked out chris king wheels and stuff...BUT...i draw the line at my inner tubes....that aint a place i wanna save weight...
SO...the bottom Line _______ is.... unless u're a Racer Boy...and ur idea of fun is a flat-tyre changing contest... go wiff Cheng Shin inner tubes...they're so cost-effective and thick enuff to withstand the impacts that ur 'lightweight' tubes cant handle...its worth the extra weight.
