    Bike Setup:99 4 banger/judy100/xt all around/ hayes/bla,bla,bla
Bottom Line:......i'm 115lbs. somthing must realy be wrong with rock shox if a 115lbs. kid(19) can break 2 of these shocks in less then 1year. rock shox sucks, i've leaned my lesson.

    Favorite Trail:Oasis (from the top)
    Duration Product Used:6 months
    Purchased At:came with bike
Strengths:Very simple, no adjustments besides spring compression.
Weaknesses:Not much travel. What travel there is can get eaten up very fast.
    Similar Products Used:First rear shock.
Bike Setup:raleigh m8000, englund 4" air fork, deluxe rear, 2.6/2.35 tires, lx all around, disks
Bottom Line:It worked ok for 4 months and then froze up compressed. Totally unacceptable considering I maintain my bike well. I'm 190lbs and ride hard but definitely not to the point where it should die like it did.

If you are a dainty rider and would like a rear shock to impress your friends with, then the deluxe will work ok. If you need a rear shock that will work hard for you and not break, don't get a deluxe. Its a cheapy...

Mine is going back to the factory while I search the world for a real rear shock. Any ideas?

    Strengths:Color ???
    Weaknesses:Gas piston is weak.

Bottom Line:Have had to replace shock twice and upgrade to a higher grade spring. Time to consider an air shock. Cane Creek or Fox. Sorry Rockshok this is a big dissapointment.

    Duration Product Used:6 months
    Purchased At:Bicycles East
    Strengths:Plush.
    Maintenance free (so far).
    Good bang for the buck.
Weaknesses:Can be too soft at times.
Hard to adjust preload on trunion mounts without tools (My 4-Banger has trunion, also some Cannondale Super-V's)You need a wrench to hold the shock in place while you adjust it, otherwise the whole shock just spins.
The spring appears to be rubbing the body of the shock. I don't think it will hurt anything though.
    Similar Products Used:Fox float, SID
    Bike Setup:2000 4-Banger stock, Judy 100
Bottom Line:So far this shock works really well. I have not touched it since the day I got my bike, other than initially adjusting the preload when it was new. I must say I am somewhat skeptical after reading some reviews, but so far the damn thing is doing a great job and at 180lbs I ride fairly hard. You can bottom out at low speeds on large roots/rocks, but if you have some speed the shock is just right for most anything. This shock is best on fast downhill runs with small hits. It can easily handle a hard blow at fast speeds and 2-3 foot drops are no problem. If I blow this shock I would buy another, they are cheap in comparison to others, perhaps upgrade to the Deluxe Pro. At this point I do not think that will happen but you never know. I give 5 chilies for value because it is inexpensive and performs well. 4 chilies overall because I know there are better shocks out there but I am definetely pleased with mine.

    Duration Product Used:6 months
    Price Paid: $150.00
    Purchased At:Decathlon
Strengths:Seems tough quality. NOt complicated, so it's tough !
Red spring attracts the eye !
Weaknesses:Too springy, it pushes you up the same you bump it down !
    Similar Products Used:Fox Vanilla
Bike Setup:Rockrider 7.6 ,Rock Shox Judy XC fork.
Bottom Line:Well, buy it if you don't need high performance and if it's cheap....
It's not a sophisticated rear shock. Poor regulation.
But good for enduro or nice XC trails without needing performance.

    Duration Product Used:3 months
    Purchased At:Came on my bike
Strengths:Um it was a decent shock for the frist 2 months...
Weaknesses:This shock is a piece of §hit... It came on my 4 Banger and I do a lot of freeriding and I went off a small 4ft drop and it did not fell the same after that... Then a couple of weeks later I blew the stupid thing... I will not buy another Rock Shox product again. I work down at out LBS and I will never reccomend Rock Shox or buy their products again.

Bottom Line:I would not reccomend this product to anyone. What a piece of §hit. Now that it's blown it does not even move... just frozen compressed. I did not buy a full suspension bike to ride a hard tail.... I am pissed...

Duration Product Used:Tested or demo'ed only
    Strengths:Very Plush.
    Good Rebound.
Weaknesses:For some it could be too plush for xc racers.
    Similar Products Used:Fox Vanilla RC
    Bike Setup:Specialized FSR, Judy
Bottom Line:For those of you who like a comfortable ride going up, down or on the flat, this is the shock for you. When I test road the FSR I went down some steps that were far apart so that I went down one step at a time. I stayed in the saddle the whole time. So comfortable. Instead of getting rattled around it felt like I was riding over a small root. So for those of you who love to fly down those fast, rooty sections this is the shock for you.

    Date Reviewed: June 18, 2000
    Duration Product Used:1 Year
    Strengths:Damping adjustments, good in mud
Weaknesses:Springy, not very adjustable, bottoms out alot
    Bike Setup:GT i-drive XCR 3000
Bottom Line:It's extremly bouncy and not adjustable and when it bottoms out you'll now it. You should only buy it if your a beginner who doesn't weigh over 180. Other wise it isn't worth your time.

    Favorite Trail:Muleshoe
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
    Strengths:On the fly damping control
    Weaknesses:Spring is too weak
    Bike Setup:Joshua F3
Bottom Line:I have not had any mechanical problems yet with this shock but have only had it less than one month. It came as with set-up on Joshua F3. I need a heavier spring because this one is designed for a 180# rider and I weigh 225#'s. I have to max out spring and it still is too soft. I end up riding with the on-the-fly dampining control on to make it work for me. Hopefully new spring will eliminate need to have it on at all times. The on the fly damping is good though as it stiffens up the rear to help on up hills and gives you better traction.

    Date Reviewed: April 28, 2000
    Favorite Trail:blue mountain
    Duration Product Used:3 months
    Strengths:What strenghts?
Weaknesses:Everything. The oil shock rebounds at a different speed then the spring causing it to pre-load itself when it hits large bump. Have to adjust the pre-load after every ride. After awhile I might as well be riding a hardtail. Weak consrtution as well. Has a tendency to bust in half. Rock Shox does not stand behind their warrenty.
    Similar Products Used:stratos shocks
    Bike Setup:Schwinn 4 banger
Bottom Line:the rock shox delux is a P.O.S.

    Strengths:it absorbs most bumps
    Weaknesses:does not absorb most bumps
    Similar Products Used:Fox Float
    Bike Setup:Haro EX2 stock + some stuff
Bottom Line:The only reason you should own this shock is if it came on a bike you bought. Do not buy it.
