Fed Trail Program & Bike Biz Boost Upcoming IMBA Summit

For Immediate Release: May 26, 2004

Next week's IMBA Summit has earned generous sponsorship from a diverse group of supporters. The Federal Highway Administration's Recreational Trails Program (RTP) is the event's leading sponsor. The Bikes Belong Coalition, Quality Bicycle Products and America Bikes are presenting sponsors.

The Summit, to be held June 4-8 at McDaniel College in Westminster, Maryland, promises to be an inspiring gathering of mountain bike advocates. Racing heroes Marla Streb and Ned Overend will join IMBA's advocacy leaders, top federal land managers and key representatives of trail groups from around the world.

Attendees will spend one day on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., meeting with their U.S. representatives, senators and staff to introduce IMBA and present our key federal and state access issues. The effort builds on IMBA's increased lobbying activity in our nation's capital - the place where key trail management decisions are made.

The Summit is just one of several IMBA projects that has been supported by the Recreational Trails Program. Managed by the Federal Highway Administration, the RTP provides federal support to the states for trails and trail-related projects nationwide. The program has helped communities build and repair thousands of miles of trails for all kinds of trail users, involving more than 7,000 projects in all 50 states and Washington, D.C.

Other IMBA Summit sponsors include: Park Tool, Planet Bike, Performance, Mavic, Voler, Adidas, SockGuy, Kona Bicycles, Luna Bar, Sports Express, Michelin, CLIF Bar, Subaru of America, Fox Racing Shox, Giant Bicycles, Pedros, Shimano, Trek Bicycles, RockyMounts, Bike Magazine, Smith Sport Optics, Kenda, Titec, WTB, SRAM, RockShox, Avid, Trails.com, Yeti Cycles, Accelerade, Showers Pass Clothing, Dirt Rag Magazine, Do Wrap Performance Headwear and Webmountainbike.com.

The IMBA Summit is open to the public and spots are still available. Details at http://www.imba.com
