Saturday July 3 - Highlights

Mike in Silver City, New Mexico at 9:30pm
I have 124 miles to go. You can hear fireworks behind me as folks are celebrating fourth of July. Boy, what I'd give to be celebrating by tomorrow. Today was a deceptively hard day as the climbs kept coming and coming. They were compounded by hard, stiff winds, soft soil conditions and smoke from fires.

I haven't seen Peter since Grants. I've got to believe he's not more than a few hours from me. I really don't want those strong, determined 23 year-old legs passing me tonight as I sleep. We'll see what happens with that.
