I just think it makes a killer all mountain trails/amateur race bike, and the FSR frame fits me like a glove (I chose a '99 rockhopper b/c I love the square tubes. I like the new SRAM trigger stuff, and the '01 Marzocchi is the best 100mm fork I've used. The magura brakes are light (for hydros) and really reliable. The Michelins are awesome (and green). The rest is mostly a mixture of comfort/weight choices. Except the saddle, which is the most comfortable saddle in existence.
