Strength:

Comfortable seat (with included suspension post), functional and easily accessible front shock lockout, gorgeous charcoal-blue and matching fork, practical setup for commuting and light trail riding.

Weakness:

Drive train (creaky, finicky shifting, needs frequent adjustments), brakes are an upgrade from rim brakes, but still only so-so, geometry doesn't fit very well (see below).

Overall, I'd say the Kaitai is a good value. However, be careful when buying this if you are tall. I'm 6'2", and immediately the LBS said I'd need an XL frame. After riding this thing for a couple years it's safe to say I should have gone with a L (19.5). The top tube is just way too long for me. Other than that, I'd say it's a pretty decent bike for the price, but if it doesn't fit you well, just keep looking. There are plenty of good options in this price range.
