Cross Country Rider Summary: Just took this trail last weekend and had to contend with washouts and copious amounts of sand on the riverbottom. Due to the fact that most of the trail is double tracked, it can be very fast. VERY FAST PLUS BIG WASHOUTS MEANS BEING EJECTED OVER THE HANDLEBARS! There is evidence of a lot of recent repairs after the flooding in SW Wisconsin, making this trail more enjoyable. I would suggest starting outside of La Farge and biking towards Rockton. Be careful where the trail connects with county P by Blackhawk Rock- logs were placed in the trail as water diversions and have become very difficult to ascend. The trail has become a bit more technical with the washouts and should prove to challenge almost any level or rider. Try it out! Other recommended trails in the same area: Single track in Sidie Hollow, HPT in La Crossse, Perot State Park

Cross Country Rider Summary: Due to recent events here in this south west wisconsin reverve, mountain bikes are now considered to be legal users of all trails in the Kickapoo Valley Reserve. This is a VERY good thing.
These trails are the best trails that no one, but NO ONE, is riding or knows about. All of the single track(about 18 miles of it all told) is what once was Horse trail only. After a recent conversation with the land manager out there though, they want to open the trails up to multiple use. Recommended Route: Start in Rockton at the Rockton Bar. Go across a bride over the Kickapoo river and find the trail head snaking off into the woods up the hill side. Follow this to Hungry Horse Hollow and cross county P and follow the trail back west to Hwy 131. Along both of these sections you'll find expansive views(do a Picture search, I'll have photos of these trails up soon), and sweet, sweet sections trail. Ride when its dry of course. If its been wet, there are chances that the horses have been on it and ripped the trail up a bit. At Hwy 131, turn south and head back to Rockton. Here you can pick up another 6 miles of trail if you take a right at the intersection with Couny P. This trail will take you back north for a ways on single track(Watch out for roots on this one), and bring you back to Hwy 131 via an old farm access road. Take a right and head south to Rockton again. Hwy 131 has nice wide shoulders marked as a bike Route!
These trails are amazingly fun! Other recommended trails in the same area: Ash Creek near Richland Center, Human Power Trails in LaCross, Levis/Trow Mound, Blue Mounds.
Soon to be under construction, Duck Egg County park 7 miles Northwest of Viroqua.

Cross Country Rider Summary: Rode this trail once, and most likely never again. It's one of the most beautiful areas in Wisconsin and the trails are in a great location and offer a lot of hill climbs. But due to the arch nemisis of mountain bikes, that being the horse, these trails are in horrible shape. It felt like riding a plowed field with a splash of horse manure just to add to the expierence. We rode it for about 5 miles, and could not take it anymore. We took to the highway for the rest of the way. The highway is perhaps the best strech of paved road to ride a bike. Highly recommend it on a road bike. But skip the mounatain bike trails for sure. It's too bad because this could be one of the best trails in Wisconsin if it weren't for those oversized rodents they call horses! Recommended Route: Hwy 131 along the Kickapoo river on a road bike. Other recommended trails in the same area: Levis Trow/Mound, Neilsville WI

Cross Country Rider Summary: Maybe you caught a bad time. There is a lot of horse traffic and if you catch it after a rain or something it can get nasty but if you get it in good weather there are great fire roads with large climbs and descents 300-400 ft. Also the raods were recently repaved in the area with nice bike lanes so you can get some great road biking in too.

Cross Country Rider Summary: Wow! Are these guys riding the same trails? I live close enough that every once in a while I feel like going and punishing myself - (time heals all wounds?).
Yeah, it is solitude, but the horses have chewed the trails into a nightmare! There are points where it is "bike only" - tell the horse people that!
There is some single track - that is reserved for horses. Bicyclists get the double track -O! Joy! - and share it with the horses!
It used to be a place to bring a novice rider. I wouldn't do it now, the roughness is very discouraging. Recommended Route: Not until some trail repair is done! I recommend writing the State of Wisconsin and the Ho-Chunk Nation and getting some real trails in an are that could rock!
