Strengths: Super light and well built.
The alpine rims are the best I've owned. Super wide and super stiff. I've run tubeless since day one (28 psi front, 30 psi rear) with no problems.
Paired with the American classic hubs, you can't beat this wheelset.
It's my racing wheelset, so I would warn you on everyday riding. If you hit a rock hard, you'll damage the rim. But then again, what wheelset won't be damaged? If you are to use everyday I would run a higher pressure and maybe bigger tires.
I currently have them setup with Specialized Fastrak LK.

I would like to build a wheetset for XC ride, maybe occasionally trail ride. I also intend to use if for XC race.
Any thoughts between Stan's Alpine and Crest?
Is Crest stiffer than Alpine with insignificant 20g penalty?

My only problem is that my current front hub is 28h and that means I would have to use a ZTR Alpine on the front. Is this ... Read More »

I'm planning on using DT Swiss Revolution spokes (2.0/1.5) with aluminum nipples. Does ... Read More »
I need help choosing between these two rims for a rear wheel build on a bike I am building. The bike is an 08 BMC Trailfox 01 that I hope to equip with a X-Fusion Velvet and 650b front setup at 130mm. I don't think I can run a tweener wheel out back, so I am now looking for the best setup for trai ... Read More »
