Strengths: Light, strong, and requies little maintenance
Weaknesses: none
Bottom Line:
I have used this wheelset for the past three years had they have exceeded all expectations. I feel comfortable riding them in the roughest trails and have never had to true them. Only had 2 minor problems. The front wheel caps loosened up and make a noise, but this was easily fixed by using hex wrenches to tighten them. After riding them about a year the rear hub stopped engaging because it had not been maintained. It was very simple to take the hub apart and clean and re lube.
I don't think there is a better wheelset value at this price range and I am going to buy a new wheelset for the Yeti ASL I am building.
Strengths: strong,durable,light,stay true after 2years,
Weaknesses: I got the wheelset about 2years ago the only thing is the freehub and hub bearing need maintain after 3 months if you ride a lot .
Bottom Line:
they're strong,I blow up my front tire once on a downhill trail, basically I rode on the rim and I thought I was gonna true the wheels - but they *****stay true***** even after 2 years abuse they still stay true !!! WTF !!! If you know little about mechanic you can do the hub maintenance by yourself they also the tech doc on their website. 15QR adapter is also available for purchase .
Wow. I knew I was taking a step up in the world but I was shocked. Used a scale for before and afters and I shed over a pound from each wheel. Came true from the factory, haven't needed to tighten them yet. The value of these things is incredible. Building/buying a "normal" premium wheelset would be at least $200 more. The colour is a little bling but I'm proud to show them off.
Interested to see how durable they will be over a few years of riding but so far I'm thrilled.
Strengths: Light & durable. Improved support from mfg. 8 years old and still true.
Weaknesses: Same flex noticed in other reviews. "No fault replacement" is not really worth it. (you can find online cheaper)
Bottom Line:
I have been riding this wheel since 2002. It has thousands of miles on them. It is light and durable. I have hit up to 225lbs, and in 8 years this wheel has never needed to be trued and has only had one failure that the mfg was very helpful in resolving. They were not always this way, so I am glad to see it has improved. My next wheel set will be another Spinergy. Recommendation: Use Mobil 1 oil to lubricate the prawls.

Strengths: Lightweight, Low Maintenance, Low Rolling Resistance, Bling Bling Bling
Weaknesses: None since I've had them, the white spokes don't even look dirty when the rest of the bike is.
Bottom Line:
These are by far the coolest wheels you can get and I get nothing but compliments on them. They are remarkably stiff for a wheel that absorbs vibration. Plus they make that wonderful whurring when you coast. I couldn't be happier, unless I had bought the red ones!

Strengths: Crazy light, stiff and strong, no issues what so ever mechanically, look great
Weaknesses: Special tools needed for routine service,
Bottom Line:
I am no racer but I usually try to ride twice weekly.also I am a big guy at 230 lbs and these wheels have treated me more than well. still relatively true, no bearing issues, and just now needing the spoke tension tightened. Overall definitely a great wheelset especially for the money I paid. I was a little sceptical about the durability considering my size but I am now 100% sure I bought the right wheelset.

Strengths: Light, strong, reliable.
Weaknesses: Spoke sheath prone to damage.
Bottom Line:
It's been two years now and these wheels have survived and performed beyond any reasonable expectation; I have raced them, ridden all kinds of trails in CA, CO & AZ and the worst that happened is one broken spoke and some ripped spoke casings; I didn't even notice either for a couple rides. Just a few days ago I got a stick trapped between the cassette and the wheel, this ripped the sheaths on all the drive-side spokes but again, I didn't notice until later; both times the wheel went just slightly out of true, both times I contacted Spinergy CS and replacement parts were at my door within 48 hours. OK, it helps that I live in the same town as the company...
I have no hesitation in recommending this wheelset to anyone who races XC or rides trails; DH & FR guys, Spinergy make wheels for you too but not these...
I have them set up tubeless with Stans standard rimstrip & two scoops of juice, Nevegal up front, SB8 in back, both at 22PSI. No burps. farts or flats!

Strengths: They are Very strong, and very light. They have good (Hadley internals) hubs that roll smoothly and engage quickly. One of the few light wheelsets that come 20mm compatible and they Look dang cool as well.
Weaknesses: A little funky-you need a special tool to true them-although, in a year of hard riding they have yet to go out of true
Bottom Line:
I was apprehensive buying these, but I've been absolutely delighted riding them for over a year now. They spin up and accelerate great (and they are surprisingly stiff under power!!). And yet, due to those cool spokes, they have a nice dampening quality as well (especially appreciated on a hardtail!)--from Kingdom Trails, to lynn woods, to a few DH lift service days at Mt Snow, to some long, long Epic xc rides, these wheels have really held up, look great and feel great.
Also, I highly recommend getting them with the 20mm thru axle converted option-I'm a big fan of the thru-axle even on xc forks and xc applications and this is one of the few 'light' wheels' where that is even possible.
Pick up a pair, you won't regret it! Why run heavy wheels when you can run lighter wheels that are just as strong?!?

Strengths: light, strong, fast. I got white and it out really stands out. Wheels get a lot of complements. Set mine up tubeless with salsa skewer
Weaknesses: none.. what color to get lol
Bottom Line:
The wheels made a big difference compared to my stock lx wheels. Roll fast and i haven't had any problems with them. These wheels made me a way better rider. I don't see any on the trails. 3 foot drops.. never had to do any service on these wheels. Would recommend these wheels to my friends. When i buy a 29er i am buying them too.

Weaknesses: not many dealers carry them
Bottom Line:
Super solid wheels that are light and hold up to my 195lbs of abuse. noticed a spoke had come loose, after 2 years of hard riding. wheel was still true as brand new but i couldnt find my spoke tools. called CS and was refreshed to have a very knowledgable and caring dude to work with. i would buy these again and at retail price. best wheel set ive ever had, period!

Strengths: Spinergy has great customer service, with helpful advice and fast response time. The wheels were durable and lightweight. Very easy to maintain.
Weaknesses: 1. Although, I haven't had to true often, it was a bit of a pain because one has to take tire/tube/rim strip off to perform the work.
2. I believe the hub alignment is offset, which like another reviewer said, doesn't cause any problems but it does make the disc brake rotor oscillate making the brakes rub just slightly even after countless adjustments.
3. I haven't broken any spokes but the spoke covering can be nicked easily. 4. Since the wheels are proprietary, extra spokes, rims, needs to be bought through them. Although, ordering is a breeze with them, it is a little more work than just wandering into any bike shop to buy a spoke.
Bottom Line:
Overall, I like the wheels. No "major" issues, I got what I paid for, a nice set of lightweight wheels at a reasonable price, there are some weaknesses but not a deal breaker.

Strengths: They stay true, they're light, seem strong and don't flex at all as some people seem to think they might.
Weaknesses: I've had or have had issues with: front bearings; freehub bearings; hub centralisation; water ingress; spoke damage; poor quality control in general. They're quite expensive as a consequence of these issues (expect more).
Bottom Line:
I couldn't say that I'd buy these wheels again as I've felt disappointed about their overall quality given their price. I feel that Spinergy could cure most of the problems quite easily if they care to.
The good;
They seem quite strong. I read comments prior to purchase talking of potential flex though I've not experienced any flex at all. The spokes feel as strong and inflexable as steel to me. These wheels have also remained very true during the year's use, where they've been ridden quite hard at times over rough, rocky sections, cornered hard, and a few pretty insignificant drops thrown in here and there. I was also impressed with the weight of them in comparisson to my previous wheels that were nothing special (average budget wheels).
The bad;
The front wheel never rotated very smoothly from new, it was always a it notchy akin to an overtightened cone bearing in feel. It was also quite noisy when spun in free air. I managed to cure much a the notchy friction eventually by repressing the bearing outer shells firmly into the hub. They remained noisy though. These bearings have failed with play in one year, or about 850 miles of use.
The "Enduro 6902 SRS DINP5ABEC5" seals used in the freehub bearings are utterly rubbish at preventing mud/water ingress. Honestly, any mud/water that passes the cassette lockring flows freely into these bearings and destroys them. I've had to improvise and install a additional seal under the lockring to help prevent this now. They should not bother using these bearings at all and instread should use the same "Enduro 6902 LLB" as used for the main rear wheel bearings instead (same size) as the seals would be much more effective (typical RS seal).
The rear hub body in relation to the bearings has been machined off-centre. This means the brake disc oscillates off-centre, too. This doesn't cause an issue other than it's just poor engineering, especially for a wheel of this cost.
Both the front and the rear rims have a problem with water retention. After use in wet conditions, or a hosing down, the rim cavities can collect a fair amount of water, which is difficult to release. If I place my innertube vavle core nearest the ground and push it in and out a few times it can gradually pump out the water. I've half a mind to drill a hole in the rim wall somewhere and be damned creating a potential weak point.
The rim weld seam appears poorly finished as it bubbles of the rim. It looks cheap.
The plastic spoke "outer" that covers the inner fibres are quite easily damaged if/when your wheels pick up rocks. I've not had a spoke break yet, nor do any of the fibres appear terminally damaged, it's just the plastic outers that have suffered a bit.
The pawl spring wasn't installed correctly from new. It took me dismantling the freehub out of curiousity one day to realise this. I effectively had one pawl properly sprung (properly engaging), one half sprung, and one not sprung at all. It required installing the pawl spring "gap" appropriately on either side of the "pin" (anyone familiar with the design may know what I mean here).
The decal stickers look fairly cheap with them not even being anti-aliased. :P
Other than this they're good wheels! No, honestly, they're not bad wheels I don't think, they could just be made so much better if the company took care of stupid problems like the above. Hopefully these comments here can be seen as helpful in that regard assuming anyone cares.
Bike Setup: AM setup ridden quite hard at times; no drops > 2 feet or so

Strengths: Light, stiff, fast, and durable.
Weaknesses: None so far.
Bottom Line:
These wheels are amazing. I bought these wheels because I was tired of bending and breaking spokes on cheaper wheelsets. These wheels are well worth the money. They are very stiff and durable. I have not changed my riding style since I bought these wheels, and they are still as true as the day I got them. They can take some abuse. This probably is not the best wheelset you could get, but my opinion is this is the best bang for your buck. If you are looking for a nice upgrade from like a Mavic 222 wheelset or something along those lines, this is the way to go.
