Date Reviewed: May 6, 2011

Strengths:    Baddest looking wheel then and since. Baller status for sure.

Weaknesses:    Not true out of the box and no way to fix it, but livable unless you're on the road all the time. Wind does indeed catch them a little funny. Metal bead bands on the rear separated from the CF and sliced my tube. Luckily only going about 5 MPH on level gravel trail at the time.

Bottom Line:
Loved them the whole time I had them until they broke. Scared me a bit...what if I had been haulin' ass when it happened? I'm torn about getting another set off of ebay. They're already aged but going for the same price as new. Can't rationalize it right now. I'll stick with my Mavics until I taco one.

Strengths:    Light, strong, don't catch weeds and brush like wire spoke wheels, cool factor in the stratosphere

Weaknesses:    go out of true eventually and can't be straightened (that I know of), proprietary bearing races - no standard replacements available, also no way to convert to disc brakes

Bottom Line:
These wheels were absolutely the answer for the kind of riding I've done the last 15 years. High weeds and brush do not clog them, and dirt doesn't cake up around spoke nipples. But I have heard of people breaking them doing big jumps, and once out of true or the bearing races get pitted, they can't be fixed.

Strengths:    These wheels are on a 1998 Cannondale F500. They have taken me over 60000 miles with no maintenance and no bearing problems.

Weaknesses:    Strong wind gusts try to take steering control away.

Bottom Line:
THESE ARE GREAT RELIABLE TOUGH WHEELS. HAVE ALSO HAD COMMENTS ON THE GOOD LOOKS...

Strengths:    None

Weaknesses:    These rims suck, hit a small curb and cracked it. Spin refues to replace under warranty and gave me crap about returning my broken wheel. No wonder they’re out of business.
They Suck

Bottom Line:
I wish they were still in business--best rims I ever had. I had spoke rims and was left pushing the bike for a couple miles. Spin rims are indestructible, and have stayed true for 10 years.

Strengths:    Bad-ass looks, don't pick up twigs and crud

Weaknesses:    So exotic and expensive-looking that they make the bike especially vulnerable to theft

Bottom Line:
Hi everyone, I am sorry for "spamming" the forum, but I have a set of these rare Spin wheels that has hardly been used, and since I never ride it and am out of work now, I finally decided to sell them on eBay. As far as I can tell, the wheels and tires are in excellent shape with nothing but a few cosmetic scuffs from storage, though I can't guarantee the tires due to age. I'm starting the auction tonight (3/30/09) beginning at $1 and running for ten days with no reserve. If you despaired of ever finding another pair of these, please do a keyword search for "Spin wheels", or contact me via email for a direct auction link. Thanks!

Date Reviewed: June 8, 2008

Strengths:    Very smooth, Nearly Unbreakable,....SMOOTH

Weaknesses:    Company went out of business, Not compatible with DISC brakes

Bottom Line:
The whells are great even though they're a bit heavier than other high end wheels. As far as how tough they are, I acidentally left one leaning against my rear bunper and drove off while towing a trailer with 2 dirt bikes on it. I realized I'd forgotten my front wheel and went back to get it. There was a tire track across the rim from driving over it with the trailer but the wheel is still perfect. I wouldn't have believed it if i hadn't seen this for myself.

I'm searching for a way to modify these for DISCs but I don't know if it can be done.

Submitted by Jim Timm a from Portland, Oregon, USA

Date Reviewed: September 12, 2007

Strengths:    It looks neat and runs true. I weigh about 235 lbs and probably have another 40 lbs of luggage. I have had no problems, other than below. The wheel has been in use on roads for about ten years.

Weaknesses:    That is why I'm writing. About a year ago, It started to squeak. Tried replacing the pop rivets. Helped for a while. Decided it was due to thermal expansion between rim and wheel. Demounted rim by gently heating it with a propane torch. Now I am sure it was thermal expansion, because of the way the adhesive came loose.

Bottom Line:
I would like to glue the wheel and rim back together, but I want to do it right. What won't harm the wheel, will bond to both the rim and wheel, and won't get brittle with age? I really like the wheel, and want to keep using it.
