Date Reviewed: March 20, 2012

Strengths:    I love my spin wheels they came with my univega ds900 that i paid 700 for back in 1998

Weaknesses:    Company not around to crank more wheels and not disc brake ready. They look so awesome ive been chased by a chain whelding bike rider trying to steal them. True story

Bottom Line:
I got the spin rims with my univega ds900 in 1998 at a bike shop that also owned a bike pawn shop next door. I love the strenghth and look of the rims never had an issue i will never use any thing, id rather buy another set off ebay or a pawn shop before i use any thing else. They look so good i get compliments and the threat of theft ofcourse. Ive never seen in person with spin wheels, im glad there are lots of ppl who ride on them. Also if there is a way to put disc brakes on them pls let me know how! Pls!!

Strengths:    Baddest looking wheel then and since. Baller status for sure.

Weaknesses:    Not true out of the box and no way to fix it, but livable unless you're on the road all the time. Wind does indeed catch them a little funny. Metal bead bands on the rear separated from the CF and sliced my tube. Luckily only going about 5 MPH on level gravel trail at the time.

Bottom Line:
Loved them the whole time I had them until they broke. Scared me a bit...what if I had been haulin' ass when it happened? I'm torn about getting another set off of ebay. They're already aged but going for the same price as new. Can't rationalize it right now. I'll stick with my Mavics until I taco one.

Custom frame for 26" wheels

I want to have a custom frame built for my daughter. She's just turned 9 years old - 130cm tall and 30kg currently. Ideally she'd be able to ride this bike for about 4 years. I want to use 26" wheels rather than 24", so I'm thinking of getting a custom ti frame built by one of the Chinese or Russ ... Read More »

Stress tested the 741 wheels....

Ridiculous crash this weekend: I was doing a skills clinic at the Stevens Pass park, and I burped my front tire on takeoff of a small jump. (This was on me, pressure was too low for park riding). I landed with my front wheel somewhat catawumpus and took my handlebar to abs. Basically went over the ... Read More »

Niner "Alloy Wheels"; Any good?
