Strengths:    These rims are very stiff..........
They cut through the air like a blade.........

Weaknesses:    Paint Job is ok .......It may chip, Not meant for hard trails.

Bottom Line:
These rims look really hot....
If you are a hard core trail rider ( these rims are not for you ). These are Carbon fiber Rims so they can break if you jump them off a hill. If you are like me who loves speed and you want your bike to stand out from all the others then buy these rims. Understand that these rims are very pricey but damn you will look cool with them. Becareful because alot of people will stop you in the streets just to ask the price of them. Did I mention that these rims are hot! Email me for pics

Strengths:    Super stiff, If you go "off trail" with theese, well it's not their foult. looks stylish!!!

Weaknesses:    a little heavy. gotta ship 'em to the Netherlands to fix 'em, (not really a problem)

Bottom Line:
If you can get your hands on some spengeles mtb3 buy em, (if you got what it takes) (I mean cash). Many dudes have stopped me asking If they could buy my wheels or my bike. can't wait to take it over to Salt Lake and try it there.

Strengths:    These wheels are un-bustable, after 2 years of abuse they have only about 2mm out of true in the horizontal plane, with plently of give to soak up the stutters vertically, and with no detectable flex horizontally. Yes I origenally bought them because they look damn hard (especially in custard yellow). But now I'm so glad I took out the second mortgage, how many wheelsets do you know of that need no TLC for 2 years. & still the bearings are like rotating your finger in yoghurt. mmmmmm. Some tyres can be real hard to fit & unfit due to the really narrow rim width

Weaknesses:    After much abuse my wheels are showing worrying signs. much of the yellow surface coating as cracked & come off under flexing. Some small cracks are appearing at the end of eackh of the three spokes with what I guess to be shards of carbon fibre rattling arouind in the wheel now ( but only noticable @ snail pace ie 2 mph). finding anyone who can help you with these is a real problem as they are rare as rocking horse poo. & with no adaptor for a disk mount that I can find. Some tyres can be real hard to fit & unfit due to the really narrow rim width, & your always in search of very long presta valved tubes.

Bottom Line:
A set of wheels that will outlast many other components on the bike. Pricy yes but pay for themselves 10 fold in terms of fit them & just leave them, with no visits to the bike shop for truing.

& the big bonus they look damn fine whoosh whoosh.

They take a little extra effort to get going off the line but once spinning they will carry you. perform in all the right ways. Just could really do with a disk brake version. But hey you can't have perfection !

Strengths:    It's vertically very very stiff, so that you feel every bump, and horizontally it great, in that way, you don't have to worry that you crush them. Very nice looking.

Weaknesses:    very stiff, very expensive (in The Netherlands Fl.2000,00 = $1000,00). only Spengle product can be used. A bit heavy.

Bottom Line:
The wheels are very nice and good looking. Everyone looks at your bike. They are so aerodynamic that you can hear the wind trough your wheels when you accelerates up to 30 miles/hour.
When you want to drive with a little comfort you have to buy a fully, because you have to have your tires at a high pressure (or your rims will get some holes.) But they are just great for the driver who doesn't look at the price but only the quality.

Are there any $2,500-$3,000 MTB's that you would recommend over the Stumpjumper Comp?

I will be doing trails (no interest in downhill), some XC, and some XC racing. I want the bike to be CAPABLE of racing, but it does not need to be a focus, as I will get a separate hard tail if I really get into it. I want X9/XT level components and Fox suspension. A local shop is selling a 2013 ... Read More »
