Strengths:    Made a massive change to my 2011 GT avalanche and look no older than the bike

Weaknesses:    just gotta keep on top of bearings but all bearings need replacing at some point

Bottom Line:
All round good wheels strong, light and nice free wheel speeds with the right tyre

Strengths:    Cool looking for such a cheap price.

Weaknesses:    Too weak. I bought a set of these to upgrade from v-brakes. Found a good price on a new set at a shop and they didn't even last 60 miles. I went out on three rides and PING-POP, the rim let loose of one spoke and then the rest followed. With the low number of spokes I had no chance. So I spent more money to get the wheel rebuilt and thought it was due to being an older rim or something like that. Well on my second ride out with them again, I lost the rear wheel. Spokes broke and I nearly killed myself. That was the end of them. Luckily the shop was cool and let me trade them in on a new set of rims. Wish me luck!

Bottom Line:
I would never get a set of these wheels! They might have been good in their time. I don't know, reading others reviews here some have had luck others have had the same problems as I. IMO, just get a normal set of wheels!

Strengths:    The best Rolf disk wheel ever made, only 24 spokes & people still comment on how great they look!

Weaknesses:    Rim (rear) doesn't like riders in the 175lb-215lb range for 6yrs of use with nearly 12,000kms (at most 1% was off-road) on them.

Bottom Line:
UPDATE: This is an update on my 3/31/2005 review.
CORRECTION: I got this bike brand new on July 01,01. and not on June 01,01.
From June 01,05. - Feb.01,07. I only put on 2,000kms due to selling my appartment and fixing up the house I moved into. My fall cycling season from September - November was ruined due to both my night lights (listed below) gave up on me & my having a limited amount of funds.
Vista Lite V0513 Satellite [10+15 watt] - ordered while on summer vacation on a pay-phone infront of Warm Mineral Springs,FL,USA (Oct.2002) & delivered 3 days later.
+
Cat Eye HL-NC200 [6+10 watt] - purchased while on summer vacation in Budapest,Hungary (July 1999) at the bike shop Kerekpar.
As of Feb.01,07. I've had to replace (sob) my rear wheel due to the two largest cracks getting much worse. The two small sized + two medium sized cracks didn't get any worse. The two largest cracks are at the same nipple the worst being along the top of the rim and then turning and running along the side of the rim (1" in length). The rim could of possibly lasted me until the end of my 2007 cycling season but I didn't want to risk a catastrophic rim disaster/accident and then wait 1-2 months while my skin repairs itself. I found a classified listing online at: http://www.nmcycling.org/Classifieds/QuickClassifieds/QCViewDetail.asp?id=867
so you might want to look into it.
Bottom Line: The best Rolf Dolomite Disk wheels ever!

Strengths:    light (1800 g for a pair), strong, stay true even with a bend spoke. take all beating without complain.

Weaknesses:    bearing goes out easy and rear hub uses balls only.

Bottom Line:
This wheel is from the Trek VRX bike which took beating for 4 years. still good rolling and take all beating. 24 spokes looks cool and really does the job. too bad Rolf don't make these no more but most bike shop can do repair. These wheel are awsome!!!

Strengths:    Super strong wheel, after 5 years of hard bashing and riding still true (broken 6 frames since, wheels never a problem) ridden with broken spokes during races, replaced them after and trued them up again, still stayed true. I am a heavyweight so I am really impressed.

Weaknesses:    They do not make them anymore

Bottom Line:
I wish I had a second set as a back up (you know, just in case), if you can get your hands on some hang on to them, chances are you will ride them for the next 5 years (hard at that)_

Strengths:    light, strong, sexy.

Weaknesses:    machining of hubs not quite perfect, causing slight wobble in brake rotors.

Bottom Line:
the 24 spoke "bi-radial" pattern may look flimsey, but looks can be deceiving. the wheels are strong. after 5 years they are still perfectly true, and still look awesome.

Strengths:    Awesome styling, 24 spoke pattern, all black, rims are disk as opposed to v-brake, a-symetrical design, I still get compliments on them at 4yrs (June 01,05).

Weaknesses:    Expensive to replace and might happen this year (2005), please god no!

Bottom Line:
Excellent rim - 4yrs old as of June 01,05.
No problems with quick releases, hubs or spokes.
Rear rim now shows stress cracks, one on each side of the rim at 3 different nipple/rim locations.
2/short, 2/medium, 2/long in length.
I'm 5'7", weight range of 178-205lbs from June 2001-2005.
+10,000km's on city streets, sidewalks, water-front bike paths with alot of pot holes, ruts, bumps, cracks and dips.
I was told my bike - 2001 Trek Fuel 90 Disc /frame size "S"
- is for a person 5'0"-5'6", 170lbs max.

Strengths:    Bombproof! Reasonably light and very reliable.

Weaknesses:    Rear freehub finally died after 3 years, replaced with Bontrager unit.

Bottom Line:
These wheels are one of the best MTB purchases I have ever made. I have been using them for over 3 years now and have NEVER had to true them or adjust the hubs! Most of my riding buddies are on Crossmax and Crossroc wheels, and have to true them regularly and have had broken spokes and loose hubs. The rear freehub finally died on me recently, which seems to be pretty common. It was replaced with a Bontrager unit for about $50.00 including labor. Unfortunately, that freehub blew up after 2 weeks! I think it was just a faulty freehub. My LBS replaced it for free and it has been going strong ever since. I don't know what I will do if these wheels ever die on me!

Strengths:    Look cool, strong, stay true

Weaknesses:    Welded rim seam bulges. This features make it hard to true rims. A little heavy.

Bottom Line:
Ride fast bumpy singletrack. No into doing 5 foot drop-ins or bunny hops up and down picnic tables. Mounted Hutchinson Pythons for the summer and Fire XC Pros in winter. These things came with directions to true the wheels after a few hours. I trued both wheels after about two months of riding 4-5 days per week. Found no flat spots. Did it again after maybe 15 months of riding and these they run strong and straight. Some spokes are even chewed up or were bent. They have this asymmetric x-section. Don't understand the logic, but these worked out to be great wheels for a great price.

Strengths:    Low profile rims, low rotational weight, low spoke count, super strong rims (over 3-yrs raceing....Trued ONCE!!) Look great on totally blacked out fuel.

Weaknesses:    Free hub body is cheap, but also cheap to replace.

Bottom Line:
THese are great all around wheels. I went through all of my racing growing pains on the wheels, and only trued once. The rear free hub body is junk, but cost $20 to replace. Get a bontrager for 40-$50 and you are set for racing, weekend epics, whatever.

These wheels are so tough. I ran over them once with my half ton pickup and they were barely out of wack. I have been using them on my six inch travel Joker and they have held up nicely. I love these wheels.

Weaknesses:    None to speak of as of the date of this writting. Really, not one thing has gone wrong with them. I wish I could get a set for my car.

Bottom Line:
F'ing Bomb Proof!!! Two seasons of rocks and drops, and still no need to true!!! These are the strongest rims I've ridden in my life. I'm 207 pds. I ride hard. These rims take it.

Strengths:    Super Strong. Rode all summer without any problems. Had a flat the last mile of an XC race. Was in a good position and did not want to stop. Hammered on the flat tire all the way to the finish. Though I had destroyed the rim but my local shop found nothing wrong! Was still true - amazing!
Also a very cool looking wheel.

Weaknesses:    Don't know the wieght. QR's are a little wierd but never had any problems.

Bottom Line:
No regrets. Love these wheels.
