Bottom Line:

These wheels are sweet. Much lighter than they look, and mind you, they look pimpy as hell. They have not gone out of true at all except for the rear a bit and I have ridden them hard for a few months. These are FOR SALE now. Please E-mail me if you are seriously interested. If you don't have any idea what a good rim is worth please don't bother. They have a good sized braking surface, and about 3 inches of carbon fiber molded to the in side of the rim. They are very areodynamic and can take a downhillers beating and still be used for XC. The hubs they are built on are LX Parralax's. Aside from a little damage to the front carbon disc (a small notch, invisible and not stucturally or aerodynamically harmful) they are good as new. I will sell them with or without the hubs (a pair of nuke proof's would really do them justice) and pay the shipping. Strong, light, aero, and very cool looking. Write me soon these will move fast.

I don't see many Alite 4000s on the trails. In fact I don't think I ever seen one since built the bike back in 2003. Still the bike runs good. Any else with one these old frames still?Read More »

So a few months ago I finally broke down and bought a FS rig. Ended up getting a Fuji Thrill 2.0 which has 6 inches of travel.. it's a beefy bike. By all accounts it's a great bike but I've just never really been that thrilled by it. Now, I made the mistake of buying the $179 Nashbar mountain bik ... Read More »

I might be the only one with a Jamis in Iraq!

So I talked to the local national who can get you stuff, and he (somehow) brought on base a Jamis Durango. I think it's a 2009 model, but I'm not sure. You don't understand, the only bikes around here are the shoddy ones at the PX. This one has disc brakes, SUSPENSION (front, so it's a hard tail) an ... Read More »

Ergon Quality Issues... am I the only one?

Bought a couple of Ergon products recently (a pair of grips and a pair of gloves) and had significant issues with both. Specifically, HE2 gloves and GE1-L grips, but I suspect it's not an item-specific issue. So, lets start with the gloves... First pair the stitching started coming apart aft ... Read More »
