Product Description

Easton's Havoc DH Wheels are designed for serious abuse. By that we mean, go downhill as often as possible, as fast as possible, over the gnarliest terrain you can find. If they're good enough for Team Lapierre's World Cup racers like former world champ Nico Vouilloz and superfast Kiwi Sam Blenkinsop, then you can be sure that you can give 'em hell on your local DH track.Where other wheels might fall short on the details, Easton made sure to build the Havoc DH wheels with a few tricks that make them mega durable. Of course, they run on sealed cartridge bearings, but what interests us is that Easton doubles the bearings on the brake side of the front wheel and on the drive side of the rear -- exactly where the most abuse and strain is exerted on each, respectively. Easton chose to make the rims super wide at 32mm in order to fit the big 2.5-2.7" downhill tires that'll get you to the bottom of the course without flatting. The alloy rims have stainless eyelets on the spoke holes to add durability. The eyelets also make truing easier due to their hard surface against which the spoke nipples turn. The single butted stainless steel spokes are custom drawn to Easton's spec by DT Swiss, and their 2.3mm hub end makes them supremely durable to ward against unexpected breakage. The Easton Havoc DH 26" Disc Wheelset is all Black from the hubs to the rims. The front hub is designed to accept a 20mm thru-axle, and the rear is configured for a 12x150mm thru-axle. Rim strips are included.

Strengths:    Affordable, 150mm rear is stiff, Not too heavy

Weaknesses:    Weak, rim dents easily, get out of true easy, spokes shear off the nipples easily, one-off Easton spokes (hard to find and not cheap)

Bottom Line:
These wheels were great, for about one riding season. They were kept true and the rim dented easily. (I have one dent in the front rim and about 5 separate dents or wheel hops in the rear). I blew 3 spokes in one day due to the spokes shearing at the nipple. Had to replace with non-Easton spokes since the one-off Easton spokes are pretty hard to find (have to specially order them).

These were used for DH specifically at Northstar and now they are toast. Like the old saying goes, you get what you pay for...Similarly, a buddy of mine got his new this season and has dented his Havoc rims after 3 weekends of riding.

Strengths:    Strong rims, lite, you can get these for a good price if you watch for deals online

Weaknesses:    Bearings in rear hub develope slop after a short time.

Bottom Line:
I have been riding these wheels for 2 seasons. I have not had to have either the front or rear trued yet and I am a heavy rider (225lbs.). the only issue I have had is with the bearings in the rear hub. I along with 2 of my friends ride these wheels and all of us have had the rear wheel bearings develope slop after riding them for a short period of time. if it wasn't for this issue I would have given these a 5 out of 5

Strengths:    strong hubs. Solid rims. awesome spoke design. One of a kind wheelset. perfect combination and perfect build.

Weaknesses:    Hard to find spokes. Price to pay for a one of a kind wheelset but still no regrets.

Bottom Line:
Greatest wheelset ever. Don't get one so it would still be one of a kind. hahahaha!

Strengths:    light and stiff

Weaknesses:    none so far

Bottom Line:
Bought them online at 55% off retail.

These wheels are stiff and light for DH wheels. i've ridden them really hard and they are still true, unlike my DT Swiss on my AM bike that need truing every 10 rides or so.

i had a pinch flat once and didn't realize it until it was too late (it's hard to tell even on rocky terrain when you have 9" of travel and going at high speeds). i applied the brakes before a drop off and started skidding, this is when i realized i was running flat. i couldn't stop in time and was forced to drop. landed pretty hard and was sure i screwed up the rim, but when i finally stopped and inspected the wheel, the paint wasn't even chipped.
