Murder out your impervious singletrack wrecking ball with the Easton EA70 XCT 29er Wheels. The EA70 XCT offers all of Easton's top-shelf technology, like welded Easton aluminum rims, sturdy butted spokes, and sealed cartridge bearings, at a fraction of the price. The XCT is also available in a wide range of axle options, ensuring that there's no bike these wheels aren't compatible with, no wallet they won't fit, and no trail they won't dominate.
Strengths: Stiff, quiet (like no sound quiet), decent engagement
Weaknesses: Price is up there. Can sometimes be a pain to seat and seal a UST tire.
Bottom Line:
I ride mostly fast, technical trails locally on SS. I noticed right away how stiff they were around quick fast sweepers. They are fairly light and pretty good as far as engagement is concerned. They aren't I9s but pretty close. One thing that took me by surprise is the total lack of noise from the rear hub while coasting. Very nice! Now all I hear is the chain under strain! 4 chilis because I need to put more miles on them and see how they hold up.
