Product Description

Finally, Easton is offering all of their cross country models in 29" versions. This EA70 XC Black 29" Disc Wheelset shares all the great details of its 26" little brother. The only differences are the bigger rim and longer spokes. They're light enough to feel racy on fast trails, yet wider than most other 29er cross-country rims -- wide enough to create a fuller tire profile for increased stability and traction. The EA70 XC Disc Wheelset is based on Easton's straight pull aluminum hubs. They roll on sealed cartridge bearings for durability and ease of maintenance. The hubs direct the 24 straight-pull single gauge spokes towards the rim in a three-cross pattern. While this may add a few grams over straight laced or two-cross patterns, it adds strength and stiffness to the wheels so they perform without being flexy -- especially important for 29er wheels as you may know. Along with the rim, both the hubs and spokes are Black for a subdued racy look. The 25mm wide rim is designed for use with disc brakes only and has stainless-steel eyelets on the spoke holes for strength and durability. Mounting tires up to 2.4" should be no problem for this all 'round cross-country wheel. The Easton EA70 XC Black 29" Disc Wheelset uses the ISO standard 6-bolt brake rotor mount and it comes with two front hub options -- quick release or 15mm thru-axle. Both options include a quick release equipped rear wheel. They come with rim strips and quick release levers when applicable.

Strengths:    light , strait pull high tension spokes, smooth bearings

Weaknesses:    none, whos ever busting these must ride over every rock, only wheels to stay true, great wheelset, 299.00 cant beat the price, only draw back is 9mm. great race set or training, super smooth.

Bottom Line:
all the people are complaining about busting spokes, yes not a wheelset to trash on , take care of them, and there great. ive had other problems whit mavic, wtb, never these yet. im also a super smooth rider, not for beginners, most light wheelsets are not trash ready, daugh!!!

Bottom Line:
Bought these less than a year ago on a clearance sale as my stock wheels were starting to break spokes, become dented. The reviews I read said they were ok for trailriding, but I'm a clydesdale on a 30 pound bike. I'm not a downhiller, but I ride some chunky technical stuff and these wheels weren't made for that type of riding. Just got my bike tuned and was told they couldn't true the wheels. Going to try a different shop as the guy might be FOS or incompetent; we'll see. For now, I had to put my stock front wheel back on as the front wheel was wobbling all over the place. Will try to update this review once I talk to the shop I bought them from--who said they'd suit me just fine...
