Submitted by Nuno a Cross Country Rider from Portugal
Date Reviewed: September 17, 2003
Duration Product Used:1 Year
Price Paid: $65.00
Strengths:High puncture resistance, good grip on general surfaces - not thick mud nor hardpack slipery terrain.
I use it along with TeamControl on the front end during the winter time. Since I live in Portugal (Europe) we have to deal with rainy winters and our landscape is quite irregular so grip is always welcome.
I find these tires to be very adequate for who have a motorcross like riding style. That is why I remove them during the summer, changing to less rolling resistance rubber, namely the Hutchinson Python, the Michelin CompS or the LarsenTT.
Weaknesses:High rolling resistance compared to other options.
High priced.
Similar Products Used:Several: since the famous Panaracer Smoke to the Ritchey OmegaBite, wich I consider to be similar allround performers, both good for winter riding.
Bike Setup:Specialized M5 S-Works 2003, with Manitou Skareb Super, SRAM X.O, Magura Marta SL, MAVIC CrossMax SL Disc, RaceFace NextLP, Thomson Stem and Seatpost.
Bottom Line:A good product, but not a good buy... due to the price tag!
Durable if you don't use a handfull of brake power!
Allows good trajectories if you want to perform a more stylish riding, it doesn't ever leave you hanging from a tree! - if such a thing happens it was probably your fault. Therefor, a Free-rider with some concerns about weight will probably enjoy this tire. Also perfect match to the TeamControl 2.1 Pro 2Bliss.
