Strengths: It keeps the tube sealed from those annoying goathead thorns!Weaknesses: I noticed the weight (just a little heavy, not too bad), but it sure beats having to patch your tubes after each ride.Bottom Line: Don't know if I got the 2003 version or not, but the thing is that it does its job well. When I first got my bike, I kept getting punctures. Went through at least 7 tubes (different brands) and still kept getting punctures. After that, I changed the both tires and that did not change anything. Kept getting punctures after each ride! A salesperson at my local bike shop, who does cross country and downhill, recommend that I try the Airlocks. That very same night, I took the bike for a test-ride and I left a regular tube on the rear, and the Airlock up on the front. When I came back, I inspected the tires and found about 5 goatheads on the rear (tire was hissing from like 3 different spots) and another 4 goatheads up on the front. The tire that had the Airlock was fine and it didn't even loose air pressure! The one with a regular tube didn't make it. These airlocks solved my problem, and I no longer have to be constantly buying tubes and patch kits.

Strengths: Stops all leaksWeaknesses: Manufacturing defectBottom Line: The tubes worked just as described. Until one day after about 1000 miles and about 6 months, the tube just split. After close examination, it looked like it had been run over crosswise with a quick zip perforation device, and the tube split around half it's circumference. Checking with the Specialized as to whether they have a manufacturing defect. I really like the product and the concept. And my rear tube is holding up fine so far.
