Where To Buy

Nashbar

Submitted by Elizabeth Krause a Weekend Warrior from Dallas, TX
Date Reviewed: March 18, 2008
Duration Product Used:1 Year
Price Paid: $5.00
Purchased At:nashbar.com
Strengths:seals very well, inexpensive
Weaknesses:no slimed tire is magic - some punctures are going to require changing a tube no matter what
Similar Products Used:none
Bike Setup:Haro V3 with stock set up (Kenda Komodo tires)
Bottom Line:Purchased on sale (and several at a time), these were less expensive than other slimed tubes and they do the job. I've run over thorns and heard the dreaded hissing at the beginning of a race, kept rolling so the tube had time to self-seal and the slime would coat the puncture, and was able to finish the race with air in my tube. Come race time, not having to stop to change a flat says it all!

Date Reviewed: November 2, 2007
Duration Product Used:6 months
Price Paid: $4.00
Purchased At:Nashbar
Strengths:Holds air
Weaknesses:the sealant doesn't seal the punctures. also whenever the bike sits for a while the sealant pools at the lowest point of the tube and makes the wheel off balance for about 10 minutes which can be bad on a downhill bike.
Similar Products Used:Maxxis DH tube, other standard weight and light weight tubes.
Bike Setup:2002 KHS DH50 nothing special to note
Bottom Line:Used on the front wheel with a single-ply tire. I had high hopes for these tubes, but they just don't seal the pinch flats. I could see the sealant coming out of the two holes, but not sticking. I still think the best way to avoid pinch flats is a multiple-ply tire. I got the idea of these from my neighbor who used them on his road bike, but he has not had much success either.
