got these for winter. amazing grip going up and down in wet slippery clay. Soon as trails dry out they will come off, as they really slow you down on hardpack, even in the mud although they grip awesome you really feel them sucking in. Am looking for some more for next winter.

Strengths:
Single ply not too heavy for the amount of grip you get, awesome traction and cornering on medium to soft wet or dry ground. Good wear (esp. compared with new WTB products).
Weaknesses:
Tall block height adds rolling resistance. Not the greatest on hardpack.

Bottom Line:
This is the best all-mountain tire I've found for soft to medium terrain, wet or dry. Loads of grip. Tall blocks really penetrate the soil. The single ply comes in at around 860g I think, which is not bad considering you are getting DH tire levels of grip. Wear is good. Tall block height improves ride comfort and reduces pinches and punctures. But I think the rear tire improves with wear because it rolls better after the blocks have worn a bit! Not great on hardpack, but not bad. Have not tried in dry, dusty, or rocky terrain, but you should be running a Weirwolf in those conditions. This tire was made in Taiwan, and it looks like WTB have moved new tire production to China. The China tires have softer treads and wear far too quickly, and they don't grip like the T-wolf. Buy some of these while they are still around!

If your not worried about weight or racing and want to have good grip while you rip down the mountain this is the tire for you. I feel confident when leaning into cornors and when goin through tech. sections on rough trails

sticky 40 duro rubber grips everything well. its really 2.3 wide, not like some mfgrs who claim that width. traction on loose conditions is superb. big footprint gives you the peace of mind to tackle areas you normally feel sketchy about.price is right for a kevlar bead tire of this caliber.
Weaknesses:
for a single ply, these folding bead tires are sort of heavy and the 40 duro rubber is going wear pretty quick. Side knobs dont grip as well as the Motoraptors or Maxxis High Rollers, they seem like soft macaroni, but maybe something I have to get used to.

Bottom Line:
youre not going to win a XC race or a even group ride with these tires. The tread's knobs stick out like a giant female hog's nipples, which is good for traction but its just way too much for someone who needs to get somewhere fast. The side knobs are huge which is the reason I notice the knobs sometimes rubbing against the frame in the rear. I have used Maxxis 2.35 and even a 2.4 Motoraptor on this frame and never had any rubbing, but when they break in perhaps that will go away. I have the 2.7" tire on my freeride bike and love it so I decided to try it on my XC bike and have to get used to the gorilla grip it gives hardpack and sandy conditions. I rode through a rock garden in Big Bear and the tire, unlike others felt like I had another inch of travel front and rear which was nice. Get these tires if you plan to just ride and not race.

Strengths:
Big and burly with lots of knobs. Good in loose conditions. Can run low tire pressure w/o pinch flats.
Weaknesses:
Can't use granny gear because front derailleur doesn't clear side knobs, Knobs are flexy. Tend to lose grip on rocks. Terrible for hardpack or pavement (knobs are off center so the tires feel like they are wandering all over).

Bottom Line:
These are really meant to be downhill tires used at a ski resort where there's a good chance you'll encounter loose conditions (they are supposedly the official tires of Snowshoe, Whister and a couple other ski resorts). For climbing they're just too heavy and slow rolling. If you're just playing around in the woods finding stuff to jump over, on to, and off of they are probably an adequate choice too, but there are definitely better tires out there.

This is an update of my previews review. After a 24 miles ride with this tires I concluded that they are not for long rides of pedaling. They will suck your energy because is like running a marathon with boots. If WTB decide to reduce the size to 2.2 then this is going to be a great XC tire. I made a longer ride in the same place with a heavier bike but with Continental vertical on it and the difference was huge, it has to be the weight...

this is a tale of two bike rides. the first time i tried these tires was on twisty singletrack through the trees on a hardpack surface. i had the tire pressure set to 40 psi and got alot of looseness and squirming when cornering. even going straight the tires tended to wander around. i was ready to take them off after that ride,but decided to give them another chance at a lower tire pressure. my reasoning was that maybe with the casing being stiff the sidewall knobs weren't being pushed into the ground enough to not squirm around. the next ride on the same course i set the tire pressure to 30 psi with the same trail conditions. this time there was no squirming and only a little bit of looseness. when properly set up these tires can be confidence inspiring. they smooth out the ride, and make it feel like you can go up and over anything. if you don't mind a little extra weight(it's good for training) i highly recommend these tires. i'll be testing them in considerably different conditions in the up coming months (rocks,loose dirt,mud,etc) so stay tuned for further reviews.

This tire is very good i you don't have to make a lot of climbing. If so, you better go with an smaller tire in the rear. Exellent front tire. I'm riding bidwell park and there is rocks everywhere of any size and in any condition. So the tires fit the trails well for me. It is going to improve my fitness too.

Strengths:
These are some great tires. They are light,(Single ply casing, see more about this under weaknesses) get good grip on rock faces, wooden ladders, dirt, and mud.
Weaknesses:
The first ride I got a flat in the rear after hitting a rock I always hit. This is most likely due to the single ply casing. Oh well. To fix this, I threw in some DH tubes.
