Like I said earlier, these tires have made riding a totally different experience for me. These tires hold turns very well. They climb like goats, no slipping on rocks at all, not even the algae covered ones. Only been on a couple of rides with them but so far they ROCK.

Great tire for any weekend warrior because it climbs anything and holds traction always. It climbs and holds on roots and rocks, will not flat, and will last for a long time. But if you need a tire that you can really lean into to keep speed around fast turns than this tire may not be what you're looking for.

These tires are amazing on soft surfaces. I was able to climb up steep hills covered in thick wet leaves that I almost didn't even attempt, and even up a steep wet grass hill. However they suck on wet roots, stunts etc. Seem to be holding up pretty well. Bottom line if you don't ride where there are a lot of roots(espec when wet) they are a solid tire.

Great traction on most surfaces, durable even when riding on pavement. Good wear and abuse-resistance.
Weaknesses:
Pinch flats on rocky descents at lower pressure (for steel). Anything over 30psi seems to work pretty well though. Could be a bit on a heavy side, but unless you race or climb pikes peak on regular basis I think they're fine.

I would definetely reccomend these, especially if you just ride for fun. I've done a couple of races on some sketchy stuff too and they seemed to hold up fine. I have these on front and back and I would say that traction definitely improved from the old tires - they've been pretty forgiving and you can pretty much own most trails with them. The front tire rarely looses traction - it haven't wiped out a single time since I got it. Definitely feel the burn after a long climb though. I'll be getting another set once I'll wear these things out. It's definitely a good buy for the money

Before buying my 2007 Stumpy FSR I read that its only weakness was the tires, and that it would be a good idea to ditch them asap. None-the-less I road the Specialized Resolution Pro's for a few months. I didn't want to just waste em, but when I replaced them with a 2.24 WTB Motoraptor in the front a 2.1 WTB Velociraptor in the back the bike felt like a whole new machine. I was able to speed EVERYTHING up; turns, climbs, air time. It inspired some pretty good confidence. Combo took most conditions well- sand, muddy rooted rock climbs/decents, slipped on gravel or smaller rocks though.
Weaknesses:
I had been running the tires for awhile, probably for 3 months and they were doing well, then I noticed they were slipping on some of the technical climbs I had done in the past. The edges were slipping on sloped terrain a bit as well in places where it had succeeded before. I guess they cant last forever but the knobs are still fairly tall, but I definitely feel the loss now. Also the 2.1 in the back was a bit week for freeriding, I ended up denting my back rim enough to make it structurally deficient on a 4' drop. And I weigh 155 with my pack. I just scrapped it for a DeeMax, and bought some Kenda Nevegals (2.35) I'll review all when I get out... (this weekend will be the first ride)

Confidence inspiring all mountain tyre. Really superb grip. Good volume. Best where you want security rather than velocity.
Weaknesses:
Slowish - clogs in the mud. Steel bead versions are heavy (740g). Not so good for long distances as they can be draining on the old legs.
This is a review of the steel bead versions. Got to say that I was amazed at how good even these cheap uns were at providing climbing grip in wet and muddy Dartmoor winter conditions. Almost as much grip as the swampthings but much less draggy. Not as quick as the conti verticals. Not the perfect tyre but a good one to have in the collection.

I'm running a 2.24 rear with a 2.4 front (the 2.4 has a different tread pattern from the 2.24). They might not be the cheapest tyres around but they'll probably outlast most tyres out there. The durability of the treads is very impressive. The tyres are great when the trail is dry. They're even better when the trail is damp. However, mud is the MotoRaptor's Achilles Heel. Once the goop gets on the tyres, that's it. It'll be as good as running slicks. For a do-it-all tyre and in terms of value, the MotoRaptors are mighty excellent. Be prepared to curse and swear once you hit the mud, though.

for one it really is a 2.25 tire. Second as a rear tire it just flat works great. Great breaking awesome traction seated or standing. great traction in the rock, roots, loose conditions, hard pack, and the list could go on.
Weaknesses:
This is not a mud tire. Oh you can hit a patch here or their but if you slogging through the sticky stuff for long you will not longer have any tread showing. Not the fastest rolling tire, nor the lightest. Also when I used it as a front tire I never felt at ease with it. Always felt sketchy and on the edge of washing out. oh and if you ride you bike to the trailhead you will get a great warmup as they roll like poo on the pavement.
I love this as a rear tire. Other than being poor in the mud, I can find no fault with it as a rear tire. Breaking is top notch and the tread holds up well even with some pavement time. The tire drift so predicable out back I never think about it. That is actually the best thing I can say for this tire, I never give it a second thought when it mounted on the back. And that just lets me enjoy my day out even more cause I don't want to be surprised when the going get tough. so if you want a great all conditions rear tire look no further, but as a front I used much better.

I got this tire because it was the only one that looked reasonable, and although it is not front specific I thought that it would do the job untill I could find something better. Truth is it has worked so well that it is still in place and it just out-performs so many front specific tires. Mine is light and grippy. I can lean into fast corners with confidence and when it begins to break it gives plenty of feedback. It usually breaks a bit and then finds some grip again. I'm so happy I'm gonna get one for the back too.

Got ot go with the flow on this one, great tire has really impressed me from new. Put a lot of miles on these, got them front and back and still pleased with the reliable performance. Unusual tire because it steers well but functions well on the back and digs in for climbs and hard downhill techy sections. Braking stability again is right there and they work in wet, rooty slimy rock infested areas as good as anything. They last too, so they may not be super knock-out at one thing but they do deliver good solid dependable performnce across the board and that is what I need. Nice tires!

I got these MotoRaptor 2.24 front and 2.14 back on the bike when I bought it on Ebay, so they were second hand. I intended to change them right away because I didn't like the look of them. Iv'e ridden them hard now for 6 months and they have been brilliant. I thought that an " all-rounder" of a tyre meant jack of all trades ....master of none, but I have got to say that these have not been lacking in any way. Corner really well and braking is solid, plenty of grip on climbs and downhills. They are worn now but have lasted really well and I am going to get 2 new ones exactly the same. The thing I like as well is that they still work O.K when the tead is getting low but a lot of tyres turn really slippy when the edges are gone from the tread.

I have got to have a tyre that can handle many changing terrains from rocky to muddy, roots to shale, wet and dry, precise steerer and reliable rear traction, stable braking front and back. I've used so many tyres over the last 20 years and some of them have been good at one thing and some at another but this tyre is the one that is the general tyre that will see me through almost anything. This is an exceptionally versatile tyre. I think that the majority of riders use them as a very good all round tyre. As the conditons here in Britain are so varied, it is important to have a tyre that can function well in virtually all conditions. This is that tyre and I have used mine front and rear for more than 12 months in conditions that vary from dry and dusty, dry hardpack and rock to very muddy, wet roots and slimy rocks deep mud and leaf covered smooth stone. They steer competantly slowly and at speed, rear traction is excellent dry or wet, and braking stability, in dangerous conditions, is very good. I have found these tyres to be possibly the most reliable multi-functional tyres on the market. I would recommend, most of all, the DNA Folding tyres.

I loved them in the summer time but i just went out on a slightly snowy ride at about -5 C and the knobs lost all of their flexibility...completely rigid. So traction sucked (even for snow), they were very slow and noisy on bare frozen ground, and i even ripped one of the sidewall knobs off the front tire (riding on rock-free) buffed singletrack. Back at the garage, i compared them to other tires and in comparisonthe knobs felt like hard, brittle plastic.
One tire ruined, saving the other one for summer.

Great tires...I use this up front with a 2.14 back. Reliable and solid performance in just about any kind of riding conditions. They are even good in claggy clay and I would not use anything else. Riding hard and fast in the dry and really cornering hard over on rocky ground gets a bit if skip on the front but the feedback is so good that I can correct and drift straight off. Five chillis for a good good product!

I like the tire on the rear and would use it again if I could find it for about $20 ea. again. Great rear tire, but I found unpredictable on the front.
I had a sidewall rip after about 6 mos of moderate use, it seemed pretty thin - about half the tread was left. The diagonal lines were showing in the rubber so maybe I could have expected it--though I think they could be tougher

This is the DNA version with the kevlar bead and it is a very good low weight. Great tread and so excellent purchase in any but the most extreme conditions. Good under braking front or back.
A do it all tyre without any compromises. Great in the front or on the back and it handles the technical, fast descents well. It is controlled under harsh braking on the front and it keeps tidy on the back without any unecessary stepping-out. Dependable in the wet and slippy conditions as well as the dry. I can recommend this tyre.

I really like these tires for the terrain I'm riding. I live in southern Utah and get a good mix of firm, rocky, sandy or loose terrain, and these tires do wonders for me. They've saved me on a few occasions where I probably would've lost it on other tires. They are very grippy for when I'm doing slick rock, and keep me alive when i'm going through the more loose terrain. I will be using the Motoraptors for a while.

Strengths:
Good lite tires with good tread and carcass. Plenty of grip in any conditions and pretty fast.They steer well and give predictable performance. Price is O.K too.

Great all round predictable grip. Just need to change the pressure to suit conditions and these will take you across anything. They work well in soft and wet conditions as well as dry and hardpack. Lasting well too. Predictable and reliable ....they are the key words.
Weaknesses:
There are none for what they are designed for.

I've got the kevlar DNA compound that really sticks to stuff and I can push the corners and leave the braking to late knowing that I can rely on everything working. Value for money price and they last well....can't ask for more.

This is for the Kevlar beaded DNA Tread version and they are nice and light with a good open tread pattern that doesn't clog-up. Very good grip front or rear and in most conditions. Reliable and the lugs are solid and so the tyres do not squirm on fast hard pack cornering.
Weaknesses:
They are a good all round tyre and so absolute master of none. But this is not a weakness.

I have these front and rear...the Kevlar beaded DNA Tread 2.24 version. They have proved to be a really good all round tyre and surprisingly enough are as good on the front as on the back. Except for exceptional mud (as in a specialist tyre only) they work very well in all conditions and in most muddy conditions hold their own. They are light enough to race and substantial enough to give plenty of grip and confidence on slippery technical downhill black runs.

Bottom Line:
I bought these to replace some Maxxis swamp things that I was using for really muddy spring conditions. Let's just say there was no comparison as far as stickiness. But these tires are not meant to be for one type of riding. They are good at doing it all, but not great in any one area. Having said that, I have ridden these for about 6-8 months and have never had a flat, which was a little surprising seeing as how I'm well over 200lbs and ride aggressively in rock and root infested areas. Sometimes I'll ride through a rock garden and feel the tires slipping off sideways, scraping the sidewalls. I'll check and find that there is some scuffing but absolutely no tears. Amazing!
For durability and toughness they get 5 chilis. For traction and control they get 3. Average is 4 chilis.

Killer looks. Aggressive knobs and trail pattern. As a rear tire it's excellent for technical trail riding and small stunts, even DH runs. Confidence building traction and grip. Rolls real fast even on concrete with the right air pressure. Just about right for a 2.24 volume: burly but not overly so with the right blend of sleekness too
