'99 Trek 800 (what these tires were riden on) | | Bottom Line: | There is something about Tioga's and cheap sidewalls, very flimsy and thin. This one isn't so bad, but overall I would just stay away from Tioga. These have been good tires but there are better ones out there.

Fairly good hold on rocky and hardpack. | | Weaknesses: | Doesn't hold track worth diddly squat in loose conditions. Cornering is scary at speed on these tires. Get really slick in the mud, but they do shed it fairly well. | | Similar Products Used: | None | | Bike Setup: | 02 Kona Blast, original except for the Shimano M440 crankset and Eggbeaters | | Bottom Line: | Good tire if you live in the desert and don't ride on anything but hardpack or rock, can climb fairly well. Absolutely NOT the tire for tight twisty trails, do NOT inspire a great deal of confidence when cornering. Actually writing this review as I'm reading other reviews for a good XC Tire. The thin sidewall has been the problem. Very good in wet conditions... rolling resistance is low, doesn't slow you down too much. | | Weaknesses: | thin side walls, can fold over if bad landing... wears fast... thin side walls make tire unstable on wheel, there's lateral play (makes steering kind of wonky) | | Bike Setup: | Kona blast | | Bottom Line: | this is a nice starting tire... its lightish, it handles corners very well... Keep it inflated higher than you'd usually put your tires, Maybe an extra 10 PSI. eventually it will wear out and you will need new tires - get other ones, the sidewalls are thin and flimsy... traction seems soft and mushy... get something with stronger sidewalls, it'll make the tires more laterally rigid and provide better traction in highspeed/downhill situations. | | Value Rating:Overall Rating: |
