Really great for urban use. Leave them on all the time in the Summer - good for hardpacked trails - no need to swap around tyres. | | Weaknesses: | A bit 'white knuckle' on the corners of dusty trails - the feel is completely different to a knobbly mud tyre - takes some getting used to. These tires are wicked fast (had the MTB up to 38mph on the flats) due to low rolling resistance and using higher pressures than most ATB tires (60-80psi), an other selling point, they typically last about 2000 miles if you rotate them front to back at about 1000 miles.
These tires I would recommend to anyone riding on hard-pack and or just using their MTB for urban assult fitness. | | Value Rating:Overall Rating: |

-street credibility | | Weaknesses: | -don't corner too hard on these babies if you are clipped in, as the teeth on the outside edges give it that 'slippery' feel.
-if you're thinking of using this for soft ground, expect to make out with the ground.

All hardtail | | Bottom Line: | If you're wanting to do any serious off-roading, with multiple type of terrain, then you're seriously going to have to get yourself another set of knobblies.
However, for the urban fanging, this baby absolutely rocks! This hard composite kevlar will withstand a lot of serious punishment, and is the strongest tyre I've ever come across. So for any self respecting couriers out there, then this is the tyre for you!

Super smooth on hard pack and road

Gary Fisher Paragon | | Bottom Line: | I had the LBS switch the stock WTB VelociRaptors from my GF Paragon and put these babies on. They have a shaved down tread on the center line and more standard knobby tread on the inside and outside. Most of my riding is to and from work on asphalt and on medium to hard packed trails. Super nice ride on the hard stuff, the minimal center tread rolls very smoothly. At speed you still get that knobby tread noise, but the tire feels alot more stable that a more standard treaded tire. The knobbies on the outside of the tire don't really come into play unless you are cornering hard or sunk in the mud. I've been off-road with them, and as long as you stick to the medium to hard stuff, they work just great. Not great grip in the soft/wet stuff though, so if most of your riding is in the bog, you don't want these.
Oh yeah, the yellow stripe is killer with the GF red/yellow team colours on the Paragon. It really brings out the yellow on the Bontrager Race rims too. 5 jalapenos. | | Overall Rating: |
