Really, really light for its size (just over 800g)

Huge air volume for smacking rock ledges at speed, light enough to climb, fat knobs that grip slickrock and hardpack and don't bend on side hills. The side knobs stick out far enough to protect the sidewall, unlike some tires (*cough* IRC TRAIL BEAR).
It's OK on loose stuff, but you're better off with a tire with smaller, sharper knobs. You'll want a wide rim, because the sidewalls are light enough to let the tire fold over. Big huckers and pure DH guys will want beefier sidewalls. But for a ride like Amasa Back, they're tits.

Someone convinced me to try the '04 line and I'm glad I did. Specialized did a great job redesigning these tires. The '04s perform great in technical muddy sections and stick well on wet logs and rocks. They take everything I throw at them.
