Date Reviewed: May 10, 2006
Duration Product Used:2 Years
Price Paid: $20.00
Purchased At:Montgomery Cyclery
Strengths:Tractor tread does well in deep water when reversed. Good traction when going fast on hard dirt.
Weaknesses:Hard and dangerous to bank on turns. DON"T DO IT!
Similar Products Used:A MTB tire
Bike Setup:Specialized Hotrock
Bottom Line:Good tire for all around use. You have to rotate them about once a year though. I did have it pop going over some rocks, but that will happen with any tire. This tire is excellent in deep water when reversed. If you just go to your local state park and ride around on those trails it will be fine. Hums on road. Love the tractor tread. Will work for downhillers too. I took it to eastern ohio and ran it down some big hills. Great traction when going above 35 mph.

Date Reviewed: November 15, 2005
Duration Product Used:More than 3 years
Purchased At:Bicycles INC
Strengths:It's great at just riding and going fast. Turning is mediocre. Pretty good on dirt at a medium speed. Only had one pinch flat, in the rear, and I used it since 01. But I dont ride it anymore since I got a better bike.
Weaknesses:SUCKS at wide turn, either fast or slow and is horrible on loose surface! I turned a little on pavement over some sand, fell over and skinned my knee really bad!
Similar Products Used:None...Bontrager Earl but thats way better.
Bike Setup:01 4300, crap everything.
Bottom Line:Only use it for pavement, fast or slow, medium for dirt, and dont take wide wide turn. But pretty sturdy!

Date Reviewed: June 11, 2005
Favorite Trail:Anything not paved
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $20.00
Purchased At:University cycle
Strengths:A good tire for "just riding around." Pretty good on all surfaces: no buzz in pavement, but enough chunk to get through the stretches of sugar sand that plague Florida. Rolling resistance is good.
Weaknesses:Poor directional stability on loose surfaces. Remember how I said it'll get you through the sand, well you'll be all over the place doing it. Cornering on loose dirt or sand is also entertaining.
Similar Products Used:Gee, it's a bike tire. Lots of 'em.
Bike Setup:Steel Hoo Koo E Koo. The fun and commute bike.
Bottom Line:Good choice for the back on a bike that'll be riding paved and hardpack trails. Good enough to get you through anything. Too treacherous for the front in this land of sand and mud. Perfect for my road/park bike.

Date Reviewed: August 12, 2004
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $19.00
Purchased At:local bike shop
Strengths:like the name says ...in the hard packed terrain this tire holds tight...wears well...
Weaknesses:well basically opposite the above..when ya hit loose or soft terrain ... this thing slides like its on ice .. makes you take extreme care around loose cornewrs..
Similar Products Used:tioga pshyco...(awsome tire wish they were still made)...hutchinson aligator..
Bike Setup:stock 2001 k2 razerback 4.0
Bottom Line:this tire is very terrain specific use it for what its intended for an you'll be very happy.. if where you ride is sandy or just loose dirt forget it it'll slow you down..
