Date Reviewed: July 4, 2007
Favorite Trail:rivers edge trail
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $25.00
Purchased At:Knicker Biker
Strengths:Lots of air volume compared to 2". Really softened the ride on my Cannondale.
Weaknesses:None yet
Similar Products Used:Lots of different tires.
Bike Setup:Cannondale hard tail and solid fork- rough rider
Bottom Line:I'm just getting back into biking. Used to be pretty hardcore 15 years ago. These tires let me air down and take the edge off bumps.

Date Reviewed: August 11, 2005
Duration Product Used:1 Year
Purchased At:OEM
Strengths:Wide tire (2.2") gives a pretty good ride compared to a 1.9"
Weaknesses:Not the greatest traction but doesnt feel unsafe.
Similar Products Used:misc Specialized tires(Team Master, Control, etc), Panaracer
Bike Setup:'04 Specialized Hardrock Pro Disk - SS Conversion
Bottom Line:I wouldnt buy them but they came on my bike and I will use them until they wear out. Not the lightest 2.2" tire around but not insanely heavy either.

Submitted by LARBIKE a Cross Country Rider from San Antonio, Texas
Date Reviewed: October 1, 2004
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $25.00
Purchased At:Planet Bike
Weaknesses:Heavy, slow, and clumsy.
Harsh ride,
Poor traction
Similar Products Used:WTB Velociraptors
Continental Traction Pro
Michelin XL
Bike Setup:Schwinn Rocket 88
Bottom Line:These tires are definitely sub-par. I bought them as replacements for some worn-out Michelin XL's. The tires noticeably increased weight and pedaling effort. These tires ride harsh and traction was inadequate (considering the prominent tread on the tires). The front tire felt unstable (like it was constantly on the verge of wash-out) and significantly degraded steering precision. Overall, I feel I wasted my money by purchasing these tires. And of course the shop refused to accept the tires for return. At this point I'm going back to Michelin XL's (hard to beat considering their performance and cost)

Favorite Trail:The Luge, Orange Cnty., CA
Duration Product Used:6 months
Purchased At:Came with bike
Strengths:Tread life seems good. Only one pinch flat.
Weaknesses:2.2" width (at least that is a weakness on my bike)
Similar Products Used:Just bought Panaracer Fire XC Pros
Bike Setup:Spec. Hardrock Pro with stock drivetrain (I am a broke college kid) Spec. Pro saddle, carbon flat bar, Botranger Race lite stem, eggbeaters
Bottom Line:These tires came on my bike and I have been pretty happy with them. I am a fairly new rider, but I do ride two to three times on week on trails and also have ridden 10 miles a day on the road for the last 6 months or so. The tires seem to work fine for me. The rear seems to spin out on steep climbs, but that may be my riding or the fact that I weigh just over 200 lbs.
The tread has held up just fine, there is no major damage (missing tread blocks, etc.) to the tire.
My only problem does not have to do with the tire as much as the bike it was matched to by the factory. If the wheel gets even slighty out of true, the tire rubs on the chain stay. There is minimal clearance. Even with this rubbing (enough to wear some of the chain stay) the offending tread blocks help up. I will follow up after comparing them to the Panaracers

Favorite Trail:Nine Mile Park
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Purchased At:Rib Mountain Cycle
Strengths:they work well, they grip in the loamy soil i've used the in, theyre stable going down hill, whenn pushed the rear tire didnt break traction on a loose fast downhill. i havent had a flat yet, they havent pinch flated, they roll fast and just work well
Weaknesses:none
Similar Products Used:wtbs, bontragers
Bike Setup:specialized hardrock comp
Bottom Line:good tire. im very happy with there performance iv got a little more than 500 miles on them and they have not let me down yet. when they wear out i'll buy another set.

Submitted by wayne a Weekend Warrior from geraldton western australia
Date Reviewed: June 8, 2003
Favorite Trail:the next one
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $18.00
Purchased At:bikeforce geraldton
Strengths:ride
Weaknesses:prone to flats easily
Similar Products Used:conti explorer, various wtb's, panaracer
Bike Setup:dbr v6
Bottom Line:bought them because the claimed they were flat resistant because of kevlar and flak jacket construction
NO WAY very disapointed with this tyre as i ran a tyre liner as well and still got three punctures on its maiden trip
i will probably go to thorn proof tubes and slime again but its a drag because of the weight
