Is 29 x 2.4 Nobby Nic large circumference a soul crusher?

I am really liking this tire on back, but it wears a bit fast and SEEMS slow. It is taller than my Geax Gato 2.3, and I am wondering why I feel like I am slower pedaling with this tire?
