The aggressive intermediate profile grips firmly on any terrain. The SnakeSkin sidewall saves weight without losing stability, while Triple Compound gives Muddy Mary the optimal combination of easy rolling, durability and cornering grip. The extremely sticky competition compound, Gooey Gluey, has for the first time been paired with a flexible underbody that achieves an acceptable rolling resistance.

Strengths:
I've found these tires very grippy in wet conditions on roots, rocks, and mud. I've run them at the min pressure without getting pinch flat and the sidewalls with snakeskin are holding up great. If you let the tires do they're job and keep off the brakes you'll be practically glued to the trail. The 2.5's are beastly too.
Weaknesses:
The gooey gluey is showing some wear and tear after a few weekends of DH stuff, mostly wet conditions. I'm trying to makes these last so I'm switching them out depending on conditions.

Bottom Line:
Another great tire from Schwalbe, a bit specific for conditions, but it's the right tool for the job. A point or two off for price.

small local bike sho
Strengths:
- grip on wet conditions, even snow and ice
- self cleaning at muddy conditions
- they "warn" you, before you get in trouble
Weaknesses:
- the gooeygluey wears down fast at roads and trails with a lot of small stones
Bottom Line:
i bought the muddy mary 2.35 with the gooeygluey compound as "winter tires" for my AM bike.
they perform great from october till eastern in the wet and muddy forrest. great self cleaning, no proplem to go uphill at wet grass or roots.
even in the snow and on ice the soft and grippy gooeygluey compound performs well. sure, not as good as spikes, but good and save enough to have some winter fun.
now, since it is getting wormer i replaced them. the soft compound wears out at stones and streets and i like to "save" them as my favroite winter tire.

Bottom Line:
the tires (with tubes) have more grip than the tubeless tires I have used and are much better on wet and muddy terrain, but also on dry, loose grounds.
The perfect allround tires for DH and FR!

too big

Bottom Line:
I have the freeride version (folding bed) in 2.5 " size, Gooeygluey compound in front and Triple in back.
These tires are really big! Check your frame before, the are not only 67mm wide, but also very high! The weight is just under 1000g each, about 100grams more than BigBetty. Thats ok.
The grip on loose soil, mud and wet stones/roots is outstanding.
When it comes to hardpack or flat stones/tarmac, the tire is easy to pedal, but the giant knobs will roll over slightly in corners and give you an unstable feel.
The sheer size of the tire gives a plush feel when hitting hard over ocks and stuff. I didnt have a flat yet, but I think for downhilling the DH version will be safer.
