Favorite Trail:Tsali
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $21.00
Purchased At:Mike's Bikes
Strengths:slick, fat...perfect for the beach
Weaknesses:slick....terrible for hardpan, pavement, gravel, cornering is deadly!
Similar Products Used:no such animal... I've never seen anything like them!
Bike Setup:Mongoose IBOC Comp with Judy tt...LX, XT
Bottom Line:Got them for the beach...they are great on the beach but will drop you on the road or trail!

Favorite Trail:Claremont Wilderness Park
Duration Product Used:6 months
Price Paid: $22.00
Purchased At:Cambria?
Strengths:Huge Volume, fat, smooth
Weaknesses:It's heavy and it has weird ribs on the near vertical part of tread that limit lean angle.

Ritchey discontinued them, although you can find them w/o much searching.
Similar Products Used:None. Though I've used Michelin Wildgripper S knobbies for real MTB.
Bike Setup:Schwinn Moab 2 w/ LX shifters, Salsa rigid fork, Moby bite tires, Avid Ti brake levers and SD7 brakes.
Bottom Line:They're great for aggressive commuting. The term is sort of an oxymoron, but it's apt. On a fully rigid MTB, they make you feel like you're racing around the neighborhood in your Schwinn Sidewinder again.

Submitted by Pellegrino Wichita, KS, U.S. a from bobpellegrino@cox.net
Date Reviewed: May 10, 2003
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Strengths:Smooth, wide, and fast. This tire is sooooo much better than riding knobies on the street. A mountain bike equipped big 2.1” slicks makes for a fast, durable, and well mannered urban assault vehicle. If you’re a mountain biker with a passion for pavement, get these tires and don't look back!!!
Weaknesses:Kevlar bead version not available.
Bike Setup:2003 Klein Attitude Comp; Avid Single Digit Ultimate Brakes, XTR Brake Levers, XTR Shifters, XTR Front and Rear Derailleurs, XT 180mm Crankset with ES-71 BB, Answer Pro-Taper 2” Riser Bar, Thomson, Elite Setback Seat Post, Thomson Elite Stem, Azonic A-Frame Pedals, Koobi PRS Saddle with Ti-rails.
Bottom Line:This is a great tire for the street; it maintains the large volume profile of a hardcore off-road tire, while providing ultimate traction for the street. Maybe if enough people start utilizing fat tire slicks, someone will start making lighter versions with foldable Kevlar beads. Until then the Moby Bite 2.1 is the king of the fat bodies mountain bike slick, long live the king.

Price Paid: $20.00
Purchased At:cambria
Strengths:fast, has reflective sidewall strips
Weaknesses:none
Similar Products Used:maxxis xenith and hookworm, spec fatboy
Bike Setup:enduro pro 2001
Bottom Line:fast, inexpensive, slippery when wet, average looks. They've served me well for a long time now and are very durable but i grew tired of the bland look so I switched. Performed flawlessly for me though.

Date Reviewed: August 7, 2002
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $19.00
Purchased At:cambira bike
Strengths:Rides very smooth at 60psi. Very fast. Picked up 1/2 mph over a 12 mile route I ride by changing to one on the rear
Weaknesses:A bit heavy. Street only.
Similar Products Used:None.
Bike Setup:Trek Navigator...1.5 Botrainger in the front, 2.1 Moby in the rear. Excellent for paved but rough country roads.
Bottom Line:Strongly recommend this tire for street use. It is much faster than any other I've encounter and rides and corners well. Don't see a need to burden the front with a monster like this, but it's great on the back.

Submitted by Luke Nukem a from Silverdale ,WA. USA
Date Reviewed: January 11, 2002
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Purchased At:Silverdale cyclery
Strengths:Quiet, fast, stick like glue, corner awesome.
Weaknesses:Obviously you don't do soft stuff or wet trails.
Bike Setup:2001 Diamondback xsl pro full susp.
Bottom Line:I am a big dude, and at 6'2" and a SOLID 240lbs, beat the crap out of bikes. I generally ride urban and like full susp because I can fly stairs and not be scared of tweaking rims and pinch flats. I hate knobbies on the street (squirmy and noisy and scary on hard corners) These Mobybites are, as some would say, DA BOMB! Totally cushy and quiet, corner like a madman and stick like velcro. They stick well on wet pavement too. Anyone who rides on the street much should have a pair of these around. Besides, there's nothing like em anywhere that I'm aware of. For the street, fat ass slicks rule and these are the only ones above 2" thick. Get some. However, if you want to hit soft stuff or dirt, these aren't for you unless you have good dental..Nothing better on blacktop, nothing worse on wet dirt.
