My tires are Panaracer Razer XC 2.1 about $35 for one. I purchased it to sale manager's recommendation - I need something allround and speedy for wood and city biking. After all I think there is some mistake in design of protector. I really dont know why such high respective Japan brand do this. Mistake is in the thin knobs on the both sides of tires - there is a real problem.
Let's see what Panaracer says: "An amazing fast hardpack tire. ZSG Natural compound provides unparalleled grip and durability. Slightly lower knobs than the Razer MX delivers an even quicker ride for your XC rides."
May be this tire have some... monothechnics! Not allround at all.

Bottom Line:
A fast rolling tire that works well on hard pack, as it is designed too. Rather noisy (Whine) when used on road. Looks small compared to other tires of the same size.
These tires, Combined with a Hope pro2 rear hub, I must be 1 of the noisiest riders out there!
Recommended more as a spring/summer tire, or if you ride on dry/hard terrain, as this is where these tires excel, and were designed to be used.

it is a good tire i use it for long adventure races and it works my race are like 8 hours and not a flat yet i use them tubeless they work and i put it in the front because they corner well and roll really fast. if you want a fast tire that work on hard pack this is the one

If you want a fast XC tire for dry hardpack, this one deserves a serious look. The tire seems a bit on the small side for a 2.1 however most tire manufacturers seem to rate tires that way. It gives good performance on hardpack and dry grass with decent braking and cornering for this type of tire. It is really close to a semi-slick, so don't confuse this with an all-mountain tire or a full knobby. When the conditions get loose, sandy or muddy, it is really up to the rider to make it work, because the tire doesn't... However it really isn't intended for that right? I would rate this tire right in there with the Karma and Larsen TT. It corners as well as the Karma, but better than the Larsen. I like the Ralph better all the way around, but it isn't in the same price range. If you have to deal with sand, I'd pick the Larsen or better yet, the Python. So I'm going to give it 4 out of 5 to counterbalance the bad review for how this tire works in the loose stuff (I'd otherwise give it a 3 for "good") - I'm rating the tire for what it is intended for...

I would not recommend these tyres, they wash out too easily and feel like biking on ice. They may be ok on hardpack surfaces but on any loose trails they do not inspire any confidence.

Great XC tire, great grip given their speed. Usable in mud if you ride smoothly. With NoTubes, a supple, fast rolling tire. Better than Ralphs IMHO.

Strengths:
Very light for its size High volume = less pinch flats & more traction Very fast rolling Great price and value Panaracer has probably the best rubber compounds for mtb and road tires.
Weaknesses:
Not great for wet or loose conditions, but Panaracer has the Rake and Cinder to take care of those conditions.
Bike Setup:
Kona Dawg with Fox Vanilla fork.
Bottom Line:
I raced Super D this past season with the Razer XC as a rear tire . They're very light and fast rolling to be used as XC racing tires. The high volume and good traction make this a fun trail riding tire as well.
