Strengths:    Real name is K816. Cost---this is a fairly cheap tire, you can buy one at your LBS for $22 bucks. Thats cheap. Its a poor man's version of a Maxxis Minion II DHR but with the great difference that its only 2.1. Meaning like the Minion II's they roll fast but these roll even faster because they are narrower than 2.30. Climbing uphill on hard pack is easy for the tire. I use these on the rear of my 26er XC bike. It handles corners well and does well in wet conditions. The tread is outstanding. It looks like a slow roller but since the compound is harder than all $40 up tires, it rolls fast. Also since the compound is harder, the K816 Smokes last longer than most softer tires with the exception of 3C types.

Weaknesses:    Wire bead, single compound, lack of any EXO protection. Vinyl is the protection for the sidewalls. The harder the compound creates less a bit of traction than pricier tires. Another weakness--high end bike shops don't carry these due to the small profit margin. You either have to visit a smaller shop or order online.

Bottom Line:
Grippy, fast rolling, great sidewall knobs are the trade offs to a single compound, wire bead old school designed yet still great tire. That MSRP on this page is as old as the tire. Its like $22 now. This is grandpas
mountain bike tire, like his flip phone that doesnt have text or internet. But it rolls great and does the job. At a group ride nobody's going to compliment or ask you about these tires, its like having Payless athletic shoes but IMO they are way better. A silent quality tire among the expensive, highly recommend for XC and trail bikes.
