Favorite Trail: ClimachX
Duration Product Used: 3 months
Purchased At: Came fitted on my Ro
Low rolling resistance

Weaknesses:Almost no grip at all. Downhill the front tyre doesn't send the bike where you point it. Uphill (unless in desert conditions) the back tyre just spins hopelessly. They are not particularly light. Just pray you don't hit any wet grass!
Similar Products Used:WTB Velociraptor, WTB MotoRaptor, Panaracer Fire XC, Panaracer Trailraker (for when it gets really muddy!)
Bike Setup:Heavily upgraded Rocky Mountain ESTX-30
Bottom Line:The only reason you should own these is if they came with your new bike. Only ride a bike fitted with them if you have a death wish!

Favorite Trail:canada
Duration Product Used:6 months
Strengths:rolls fast
light weight
Weaknesses:cornering on slightly loose surfaces
climbing on rock
Bike Setup:rocky mountain element 70
factory setup
Bottom Line:I thing these tires are fairly good. The are fast in straitaways, but have some traction problems with cornering. They need to be replaced after 3500 km. I will definately be buying a different type of tire. However, this mat be due to the vast selection of mb tires available, and the desire to find the perfect tire for my riding style.

Strengths:Light, rolls well. Looks sick.
Weaknesses:Traction is sketchy. definitely doesnt inspire confidence... oh yeah and the rear tire RIPPED at the seam on the sidewall on the 3rd XC ride..
Similar Products Used:Maxxis, Kenda
Bike Setup:RM Vertex hardtail
Bottom Line:Ripped. Tires arent supposed to do that at the seam. I didnt hit anything....Going back to Maxxis.

Date Reviewed: May 20, 2008
Duration Product Used:6 months
Strengths:Fast on the easy and the smooth
Doesnt die too quickly on tarmac
Weaknesses:Lacks grip when things get even moderately wet, scary on rocks and roots, hates medium/soft mud.
Not confidence inspiring at all.
Similar Products Used:Schwalbe Ralph, Schwalbe Nic, etc
Bike Setup:Rocky ETSX 30, vast upgrades
Bottom Line:Stock on my rocky - unfortunately I wouldnt recommend this to ANYONE intending to ride it with a bike with even 4-5" of suspension travel... Simply because it just wont want to play with the sorts of things you do.

Ok, its probably because Rocky (rightly or wrongly) sees the ETSX as a marathon bike, despite the fact that its rarely used for that application and that tires for marathon riding are a very individual preference.

Personally speaking - I would use these in a marathon or easy XC situation (for which, dont get me wrong, they are pretty good, though not near the Ralphs) - however, I wouldnt use them on anything technical and would avoid any kind of descent (other than a super smooth one) like the plague.

Riding the bike I have, the way that I do, I would have to say that I would NEVER choose these tires, however I would never choose any kind of marathon rated tires for general every day/techtrail usage.

If you want a marathon tire, you can do worse, however you can do much better also.
If you intend to use it for anything other than basic XC or smooth trails then look elsewhere - but if you ride smooth trails or marathons then its worth considering.

Value - 3, Stock on my bike, will not be replaced with the same and so will not be looking up the prices for, middle of the road given for this reason.
Overall - 4, good for what it is (a marathon tire) but useless ay anything else - as an everyday tire its seriously lacking, but as a tire to fit for marathons it has its uses and since this is what it was designed and named for it deserves to be recognised as a halfdecent marathon tire.

Duration Product Used:1 Year
Price Paid: $25.00
Purchased At:Ryders, (Mexico)
Strengths:Foldable, no so heavy
Bike Setup:Scott Yekora All XT, Disc brakes Avid BB7 160mm, Mavic wheels, IRC Marathon tires in both of them
Bottom Line:Good tires, provides you confidence in diferent surfaces, concrete, mud, asphalt etc

I use them for traveling very long ditances and for cross country.

In my last trip the rear one last me only 1000 km due the wieght of my bike (150 kg including me and the bike) the one I heve in the front it still working with 1800 km at now

Date Reviewed: June 19, 2007
Favorite Trail:Kingdom Trails, Vermont
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $35.00
Purchased At:LBS
Strengths:**My review is for the Mibro for Marathon version** Very fast rolling, good cornering, awesome on hardpack and loose over hardpack conditions, on stones and overall dry conditions.
Weaknesses:Not good in wet conditions, but it is not designed for that purpose.
Similar Products Used:IRC Seracs, Panaracer Dart & Smoke, FireXC Pro, etc.
Bike Setup:Cannondale F600 stock w/ Crossrides
Bottom Line:This is a very good tire for Enduro racing and even for XC racing. It's VERY fast and despite is low trend it's giving you high confidence in cornering.

A must have.
