$9.00 | | Purchased At: | bikeman.com | | Strengths: | Great shock absorbtion and traction in dry or wet. | | Weaknesses: | Not very uniform tire (did not run straight at all). Bead tore off and tire came off rim while trying to set the bead to get them to run straighter on the rim. This was at about 80 psi. They also wear rather quickly. | | Similar Products Used: | panaracer, specialized | | Bike Setup: | 06' specialized hardrock pro (stock) | | Bottom Line: | I really liked the tires. They rode great while they lasted. They had the best grip, on the trails, of any tire I have ever ridden! I just wouldn't recommend them because I have no faith that they will stay mounted while riding. I am just glad that the bead didn't tear off while I was riding (see weaknesses). I should mention that I got a screamin deal on these tires so they may have been sitting in a warehouse for a long time. Maybe the rubber was just getting old (rubber doesn't last forever). If they were fresh who knows how they would have held up.
This tire was great for single track in my opinion (from a training or just having fun perspective). After going back to a lighter tire I feel like the lighter tires are too bouncy. The World Cups are very heavy as they are DH tires and I would think that most XC riders would think it insain to ride these. I however don't care in the least about weight and just go for outright strength and durability. I only ride for fun however, and if I raced I may think otherwise. These tires were a 2.5 wide tire and unlike most tires they actually are 2.5 wide mounted. Most other tires seem really narrow to me now! | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |
