Strengths: Fast rolling, durable, puncture resistant, decent traction, nothing better on hard pack.Weaknesses: Not the best choice for muddy or soft trail conditions.Bottom Line: Great tires for 99% of the trail and road conditions I face.
If you ride mixed terrain as I do, full knobby tires are overkill for most of it. And terrible on hard pack and road surfaces.. Too much drag, and track terribly.
This tire has two rails running along the tread that really cuts the contact patch of a fat tire while running on the road. It also has short connected knobs on the tread corners that dig when in the dirt, but that doesn't pick up trail debris and sling it onto you or your bike. Tire takes from 35-65 psi, so it's easy to dial the amount of pressure needed for whatever trail or road condition you'll most likely face.
Tire also has puncture protection and a steel bead, and are built tough.
I road a similar tire back in the 80's on everything but the most loose terrain to good effect.
Great all around tire, highly recommended.
