The tread of the Continental Ultra Sport Clincher Tire bears great resemblance to Conti's all-time best-selling high-end clincher, the GP4000. In our minds that's an indication of what the Ultra Sport will ride like -- low rolling resistance with excellent grip and durability. You get excellent puncture-protection, too, thanks to its multi-layer casing (it's 3 fabric plies, to be exact, the same as the GP4000). Since Continental makes the Ultra Sport clincher with 84 TPI, it keeps the price in check while keeping the weight at a happy place of 240g. If you're looking for a true all purpose tire -- reasonably light for race day, nicely tough for all-conditions training -- this should be on your short list.
