Strengths:    Extra strong at hub. Never broke a spoke yet!

Weaknesses:    Can be hard to lace into some hubs due to large gauge at this end.

Bottom Line:
I venture to say that these are bombproof spokes. The rims will break before the spokes will. Great for downhilling! Been running these spokes on Chris King hubs for just over 6 years now. I have destroyed rims and axles, but never one of these spokes. Highly recommended! The large rocks in AZ have left their signatures on the spokes, but no failures!

Strengths:    13 G AT THE HUB, EXCELLENT REBOUND, SAVES YOUR HUB

Weaknesses:    MAY NOT FIT SOME HUB FLANGES, OTHER THAN THAT:NONE

Bottom Line:
EXCELLENT SPOKE FOR TAKING THE BIG HITS, THE 13G AT THE HUB IS PERFECT IF YOUR RUNNING DISCS. THE CENTER (15G) TAKES THE IMPACT, RATHER THAN THE RIM AND HUB. LACED WITH THE SUN MAMMOTH, CAN'T GO WRONG.

Im looking to build up a wheelset in the near future and was looking at the DT Swiss Alpine iii spokes. They seem to be pretty burly which is what I'm looking for. Does anyone have any experience with these? Also regarding spoke length - If the calculator is telling me 259.6mm do I choose a ... Read More »

Mavic xm 819 rim w/ Dt Alpine III spokes rear wheel for a clyde?

I think I finally decided on a new rear wheel build...well, almost. Currently Im running a JensonUSA built Mavic x3.1disc rim, XT hub, double butted Wheelsmith spokes. After two seasons the rear wheel does not stay true, it started popping spokes and on the last ride the hub started dragging. So, I ... Read More »

What spokes - DT Alpine III?

I am having new wheels built and have decided on the hubs and rims (CK ISO Disc & Mavic XM321). I'm 215lbs, ride hard running 8" disk brakes. My past 2 sets of rims I built with straight 14 guage DT Champions. When I had spokes break it was always at the head on the disc side. Does anyone know any ... Read More »
