I guess they have the patent and it is the system that is working the best.

The Shimano XT skewer is sadly deficient.
First, the nut is hard to turn. I almost need pliers to loosen my skewers, even after lubing.
Second, the lever side of the skewer cannot rotate a complete revolution on my 2000 Marzoochi x-fly fork. The lever hangs up on the drop-out.
I replaced these skewers with old (admittedly expensive, ti) skewers from another bike which rotate just fine on the x-fly fork, and are much lighter also.
Shimano, you can do better! The XT skewer only merits one chili, but I don't want to throw off the tally for the XTR skewers so I'm putting down a five chili rating. | | Value Rating:Overall Rating: |
