Function. | | Similar Products Used: | Shimano XT, LX, XTR, 600, & TiSticks. | | Bike Setup: | 98 Schwinn Homegrown All-Mountain 4-Banger with Marzocchi Z.1 Bomber. | | Bottom Line: | These are the only skewers that have ever broken on me. Fortunately it happened when I put the wheel on. The function and feel is lame. When I closed them they would pop back out. I played with the tension a lot and I never felt confident they would stay clamped. The bike dealer warrantied them but said the Ti skewers were not strong enough and gave me steel instead. They worked just as poorly and I replaced them with Shimano LX. The Shimano LX skewers have been on the bike since the Summer of 99 and have worked flawlessly. I would love to replace them if I could find a trick set of skewers that work as good as the Shimanos. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

I thought they were fine until I put my front wheel on top of the car for the trip down to Sea Otter 2002. I've put a lot wheels on top of cars, but this is the first time a wheel came off after the trip from Mountain View to Monterey. The car wasn't going that fast and there wasn't that much of a wind. Suffice to say, I spent Saturday running around trying to find a replacement wheel so that I could ride my XC race on Sunday. I got a Paul Components hub, and had a wheel built by Sun-Ringle. I had to drive to Joselyns in Monterey to pick up my Salsa skewers that are a tried a true design that are working fine. Now I have an extra Kore and a Mavic rear skewer. I should have read the reviews that said the Kore's come loose. At least I wasn't riding when they came loose! | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

I got the basic Kore skewers a few years ago. They stay locked up well and are pretty light but I think that the locking mechanism is pretty poor. I use a roof rack and have a hard time getting a good clamp with the skewer on the rack. There is way too much friction in the locking mechanism (it isn't dirty or anything). I actually had a wheel fly off on the highway a few weeks ago, no damage though, I was lucky. They were recently ripped off and so I am shopping for new skewers but I don't think that I will get these again. They are just a little too minimalist if you are going to take the wheel on or off a lot. If the only thing you need a QR for is changing flats then these are pretty good. | Overall Rating: |

I had the KORE screwers on my bike for about 4 years now... Right now i had put them on my new bike....I guess they are pretty good cause they outlasted my old bike... I never had any problems with them, and i ride pretty hard, a lot of singletrack with water crossings and mud.... They never become loose, and i do check them before every ride... All i say is that if you are looking for reliable set of good looking screwers that don't weight a ton, get them... THEY ARE GREAT!! | Overall Rating: |

These skewers are cool. No problems with my Elite skewers in the mud either. I have the Black ones with the CNC logo cut into the handles. They clamp down hard every time and the handles are the right lenght and not too long like the Salsas skewers, which might catch on things. These come highly recommended! | Overall Rating: |

I got the kore SS. skewers on my LS Hiwassee, I sold them and upgraded to the Kore Elite Skewers, They are much better built and have a wider handle for more power when clamping. I use them alot without any problems. You people having problems with the cheaper kore skewers need to upgrade to the Kore Elite skewers. You will notice a differance, especially with a TI frame. | Overall Rating: |

These KORE skewers are not reliable. They were stock on my GT LTS-1, and I have had them for about a year. I did not have any problems with them until my few last rides where the rear skewer tends to loosen up when I go downhill. One time my rear wheel was so loose that if I had made a jump or ridden over a bump, I do not know what would have happened. I would not recommend these skewers, and I am considering Salsa skewers or XTR-skewers. | Overall Rating: |

These skewers have a high gucci factor, but they never seem to tighten all the way down. I always feel as though they are not going to hold up. I just trashed my front skewer in a wreck in a DH race, probably gonna replace it with a salsa flip off, with which I have had extremely good results. | Overall Rating: |

Sorry, Kore, but for me that's just not acceptable - although I still give them 2 star because when they're not broke they work a dream. | Overall Rating: |

Just like my KORE Elite seatpost, my KORE Elite front skewer broke. Fortunately, it did not break while I was riding, but, while I was clamping it down. I called KORE, they said send it back and they would replace it. That was a couple of months ago. I've since replaced them with chromoly Salsa's. If KORE replaces the broken one, I'll make a fishing lure out of it. Kore Offers Ratshit Equipment | Overall Rating: |

Kore Elites suck...They trashed my rear Crossland Wheel when they allowed it to come out of the dropout (there went about $300). I had mine for about a year with no problems, but just recently the rear skewer kept coming loose, no matter how tightly you engage it. At first I thought it was a fluke so I tightened it very tightly. During that ride, after catching a little air, I came down landing with my dropouts in my spokes (OUCH!), completely tearing apart my wheel. For those of you who have had these skewers for 1-2yrs WATCH OUT!. I wouldnt recommend buying these to anyone. | Overall Rating: |

These skewers look great I know that but on my third ride I tightened the rear skewer a tad too tight and strippppp. That was a loss. Now for some reason whenever I remove my rear wheel I dont have enough threading to catch the nut. Now I need a friend to push one side while I reattach it. This blows, so I dont remove the rear wheel anymore as friviously as i used too. My dealer gave me the Kore phone number and told me to get a new rear cap but Ive yet to do so. (I traded caps with my girlfriend who has a proflex..seems my stripped cap fits just fine on her bike and she likes the shiny thing. Im runnin her funky cap so everyone's happy and we saved the ride by not having to search around for a bike shop with spare funky skewer caps. Regarless these things are wicked and I like em as much as my red ringles Maybe theyre not as well thought out but they are SOLID. Just try to remeber to turn the cap once you have flipped the kore handle. This will save you problems believe me. | Overall Rating: |

I have had the KORE chromoly skewers for a few months and they are definately an improvement on Shimano ones. They just 'feel' so much more solid and there is a slight (but noticable) decrease in fork flex. The levers are easy to grasp and they look, well, 'classy' is the best way to put it. The only problem I do have is that the camlock on the rear skewer isn't perfect but that may be my frame. I would give them five stars if it wasn't for this slight problem, but as they are, 4 chilli's. | Overall Rating: |

I bought the Kore skewers this spring because they were among the lightest and I liked the wide handle. Unfortunately I trashed the bushing on the handle side when I attempted to loosen in with the handle. I talked to a Kore rep at the Jack Rabbit Run race in Norwalk Ct and he basically said you shouldn't try to loosen them this way, but that you should use the nut side. It was a pretty flip remark for a product that cost $60 bucks. I took them back to my LBS and exchanged them for a pair of Salsa Flip offs. The Salsas work way better with only ten grams difference. This is the second Kore product that I bought which has not held up. | Overall Rating: |
