Strengths: Easy to build up. Stay true. If the sizing is true, it's a good rim.Weaknesses: Sizing quirk. Some rims are undersized. If possible see if the dealer will let you put a tire on it without inflating. If the tire falls off like mine, don't buy it. I've never had this problem in 30 years of riding 27", 26", 700c, 29" wheels.Bottom Line: My 650B Synergies are from 2007 and there have been a good number of reports that these are undersized. The Pacenti's definitely are a loose fit on these and you have to be sure the bead is seated or the tire will blow off during inflating. The Fatty Rumpkin with a wire bead is a little better but still loose (it doesn't blow off during inflating.
Before I built up my Blunt wheels I put them edge to edge next to the Synergies and the difference in diameter is visible. I know that the bead seat diameter is the important factor but these are too small. So mine are from a bad batch. Hopefully the problems have been corrected by Velocity.
