Strengths:    Blunt SS 27.5 32mm wide rims. After over 500 miles this rim is tough, strong, light even lighter than my old SL's and much more stable with less flex

Weaknesses:    None so far

Bottom Line:
While I did own a set of the Blunt SL's and I loved them I have upgraded to the Blunt SS 27.5 32mm wide rims. They are Velocitys replacement for the SL's and a fantastic improvement in every respect. I used DT swiss 350 hubs with 12 x 142 rear and 15mm front. Just like the SL's I built up, I used DT swiss Comp spokes with brass nipples and the wheelset came in under 1700 grams. The wider platform is fantastic and has reduced rim flex and given my tubeless Schwalbe tires a bigger footprint. They air up tubeless SUPER easy much easier than the SL's with Stans 25mm yellow tape and valves. This was the least expensive biggest improvement to my bike for 2015 and I cannot say enough great things about them. Since I only have 500+ miles so far I cannot comment on long term durability. I ride x country to all mountain and have a 5.5 inch travel bike

wet red rims 29" 32h, Velocity Blunt SL classic red anyone?

I plan to build an all red wheel set, but not anodized. Velocity stopped producing the Blunt SL rim in classic red. I could not find anything in the web. Do you know of any left stock Blunts or other types of wet red rims in 32 holes and 29". It should suit a lightweight CC rig. [ATTACH=C ... Read More »

Blunt SL 650b

I have about 200 miles on my Blunt SL's. The rear rim is getting trashed. All single track cross country here in Massachusetts with rocks and roots. The rear rim has 5 big dings and a few minor dings. Running 2.3 Neo Motos front and back. Front is perfect, but the rear is not. Tubeless with no ... Read More »

Blunt SL

I just bought a pair of Blunt SL 650b rims with 28 holes. I have a Prophet with a Lefty, so I know what front hub I'll use, but I am wondering what hub to use for the rear. Lots of hubs come with 32 drillings, but not so many choices in 28 unless I decide to spend a fortune. Is the SRAM X.9 r ... Read More »
