Strengths: bombproofWeaknesses: no longer available?Bottom Line: Came with the frame over 10 years ago and still going strong. I changed the front hub to a 20mm to work with a psylo xc (junk) and then nixons- kept the rim. I would like to switch over to a disc specific rim set but really can't justify it. They work and never need to be trued. I have heard the spokes buckle and and ping on more than a few occasions but they always stay true.

Strengths: Mavic quality and only had to be trued 2x in 9yrs.Weaknesses: A little light weight and no eyelets.Bottom Line: A great rim that came stock on my 1996 GT Ricochet. Only had to be straightened 2x since mid Oct.1996. No dings, dents or scratches on braking surface. Would of been nice to have eyelts to reinforce rim as at 2 eyelets are stress cracks. Front rim is still in excellent condition and the rear was replaced by a Weinnman Zac-19, which isn't as good.
Bottom Line: On an entry level off-road race bike it's great.

Strengths: My buddy put these on his bike years ago, then I bought it from him, so I don't know how much they cost.
My buddy beat on them hard (180lbs)doing tricks both in rocks and urban. Then I got them, and beat on them hard as I was learning (way too gung-ho)! It's amazing how well they've held up!
Kepp in mind that these are from several years ago - so perhaps they were better built then???Weaknesses: Don't last forever.
Needed truing about once a year.Bottom Line: The are NOT the latest greatest rims. But they survived years of abuse. I'm taking these off and replacing them with new all disk fat FR wheels. Had to just give them the credit they're due!

The front rim has never had to be trued and the back wheel other then changing spokes has had to be trued only 3 or 4 times. These wheels are great for anyone!

Strengths: Last long w/ out much maint ( front rim )Weaknesses: Comes out of true easily ( rear rim )Bottom Line: The wheels came w/ the bike when I bought it new. The front rim has held up quite well. The rear rim, though, has come out of true a few times and it seems to happen in the same spots. It finally got to the point that i replaced the rear rim w/ a Mavic F519. I'll review that one soon.
Bottome line: good front rim.

Strengths: STRONG AND LIGHT. TROUBLE FREE MAKES YOU FORGET ABOUT THEMWeaknesses: SEAM ON THE BRAKING SURFACEBottom Line: I HAVE TO AGREE WITH THE LAST REVIEWER, I HAVE HAD THESE RIMS FOR A YEAR NOW AND THEY HAVE NEVER NEEDED TRUING. (I WEIGHT OVER 200 LBS) THESE ARE CROSS COUNTRY RIMS, NOT DESIGNED FOR 6 FOOT DROPS ON CEMENT. THE SEAM ON THE RIMS DOES MAKE FOR A SHORTER BRAKE LIFE, BUT MY CHEAP SHIMANO BRAKE PADS LASTED 9 MONTHS(I WAS GLAD TO GET RID OF THEM)

Strengths: Light, strong, reliable, and fastWeaknesses: Nothing I can think ofBottom Line: I like these Rims, for the front that is where I have them. I can only imagine that the only reason people have talked trash about these in the past is that Mavic's Qaulity control took a vacation between late 98 and early 00 when most of the people seem to be complaing from. Other than that, I love these rims, and I am a hardtail loving ubran assault nutcase on my commute

Strengths: Tough as nailsWeaknesses: I can see the seamsBottom Line: I was riding along at high speed with the old fork (Girvin Linkage that came on the bike), hit a jump and landed with the front wheel turned perpandicular to the direction I was riding. The wheel didn't come out of true...the fork bent!, thus the new Noleen Elite.
Strong wheels!
