Strengths: One of the few remaining (good?) rims you out there that is not over priced _and_ works with rim brakes. The rim is also nice looking, if that matters to you.Weaknesses: The major problem seems to be sidewall strength. After building up the wheel, I took it down to Sedona for a short (6'ish miles) ride to test out my new wheel (and a few other new drivetrain parts). I only had a very minor slow-motion "fall" (more like a tip over) on a steep uphill section that was above my skill level. I didn't think anything of it, but a few miles later noticed the new wheel was badly out of true. Turned out there was a large (quarter sized) dent in the side of the rim near a nipple. There is no obvious way to pound out the dent and truing the wheel is difficult without over / under tensioning several spokes in the damaged area. I may be forced to buy a new rim since the spoke tension in a few places is now marginally over spec (according to DTSwiss) ... this was the only way I could make the wheel ridable (good thing I brought the spoke wrench!)
Also, the welded joint is not that great, with an obvious discontinuity that prevented near-perfect rounding. But you can get it close enough.Bottom Line: If you like to push beyond your limits, crash from time to time (even if only in a minor way), then this rim may not be for you. It doesn't seem to hold up very well. One the other hand, if you want a light rim and never fall over, this is probably a good choice.
