Strengths: great braking, light weight, strongWeaknesses: noneBottom Line: I walked into a local shop about a year ago with the intention of getting a bike with disc brakes. One of the shop managers talked me out of discs and into these most excellent ceramic rims. I've never ridden discs. The first set of pads went quickly. Since then I've put over 400 miles of slimy east coast epics on the same set of pads. In the worst conditions I've had braking while XTR disc riders did not. If you're under 160 lbs, consider these rims over a disc setup

Strengths: Strong, light, ceramic braking surface, lasts foreverWeaknesses: Can't think of anyBottom Line: I built these wheels myself with XTR hubs, DT spokes and brass nipples. It's a light setup and I noticed that on the first ride, they roll with less effort than a heavier wheel. This setup is actually lighter than Mavic Crossmax, a lot cheaper and probably stronger too. I've ridden them for two years and they've held up fine with occasional truing. With the ceramic coating they take damn near forever to wear out and are a better value than non-ceramic because of that. A word to the wise: avoid alloy nipples. They are nothing but trouble (they seize on the spoke and break), and not worth the small weight savings.

Strengths: The best ceramic coating in the business, IMHO. Light weight, Bontrager deisgnedWeaknesses: Lt. weight means front only and you don't get to huck the thing aroundBottom Line: In the Southwest we don't need discs, we need these.

Strengths: strong, light, good brakingWeaknesses: noneBottom Line: i cant believe these wheels. while they were expensive ($350 for the set), they have more than made up for the cost. i have had almost two years of use on them, and have only had to true them like three or four times, and never had to tension them. I work at a bike shop, and have seen what people can do to wheels, and i am amazed mine have held up so well. im not sure how much the ceramic helps braking, but it completely stops sidewall wear. my sidewalls are as good as new, and there are no chips or cracks in the ceramic. overall, very good wheels.

Strengths: -CeramicWeaknesses: -ZeroBottom Line: This wheel rox! It rolls very well, and the strength is unreal. The only way to purchase this rim is to have a wheel built or build it yourself, but it's well worth the extra few dollars. Spline it to the hub of your choice, spokes and or nipples you like in diff. colors and guage sizes. If your looking for one hell of a wheel that's going to handle all of your serious XC needs, I'd suggest you take a look at this rim; you won't be dissapointed.
